Hoping mine gets much better after break-in, but running 13.8mpg for the first 650 miles, 40% Highway/Kayak Trailer the rest suburban miles.

just made my 20 mile morning commute after filing up with 87 at Murphy. The last 10 miles is flat highway. I set the cruise at 59 for that stretch. MDS kicked in and my instant was 30+ pretty much the whole way besides the bridges. The summer blend is definitely better.

Just for clarification is that 87 Octane from Murphy ethanol or non-ethanol?

I drove 700 miles round trip from Minneapolis to Milwaukee and back. I drove about 80mph with traffic on the first leg (was running late) but then 75mph on the way back. My EVIC showed 19.2 mpg, with a stock truck except for Falcon Wildpeak A/T3W tires. I just crossed 7,000miles on the odometer.

I am pretty happy with the mpg.

(edit: I should add that I've got 3.92 gear and was running 89 octane with 10% ethanol)

That's pretty darn good. I haven't been able to do a long stretch yet, but this up coming weekend I'll be doing about 600 mile round trip so we shall see how it does!

I just pulled down my best sustained highway mileage on a 600 mile round trip from DE to RI and back. Managed 18.2 MPG per the truck, and 17.95 MPG hand calc. That was at typical I-95 speeds, which are not kind to the 3.92 rear.

My around town mileage has jumped to a steady 17.4 MPG since the weather warmed up, too.

Again...I don't consider this to be great, but it is a improvement over what I have been seeing to-date.

Since I bought my truck back in March 2020 I have been tracking the real-world MPG. I know this has been talked about before but I wanted to throw out my 2 cents Fwiw, Some comments below:
  • When I bought the truck I was hoping to average 18 mpg.
    • Currently Averaging 15.90 mpg after 5750 miles, I believe I am past engine break-in period, just need to get a first Oil change done
    • This was considering the gearing and additional weight for my truck
  • I opted the extra $$ for the E-Torque (yes I know it's unproven, but as an engineer, it had my attention and curiosity)
    • As people have stated on this forum before there is the belief the E-Torque actually decreases Mpg, I am beginning to think this may be true as potentially the Electric motor is not disengaging as it should, requiring the Hemi to work harder leading to less mpg
    • The Auto start/stop isn't that bad honestly
  • "Don't expect to get good mpg in that big truck, you idiot!"
    • I drive like a grandpa, never accelerate fast and if I can use cruise control I will
      • I have read the Hemi gets better Mpg when you accelerate hard so I have been considering giving it a try.
    • I would hope to be somewhat close to the sticker...
    • My father averages better than the sticker on his F150 (16',23.4mpg, 2.7EB, 2wd,45k miles)
  • I understand Mpg will vary truck to truck spec to spec and most sticker mpg rating systems are flawed
    • If this is true then give me a more realistic estimate of what I will achieve, just be honest up front.
  • "Bro! I average 23mpg in my rebel lifted blah blah blah"
    • Track the numbers as I have and prove it to me.
  • The game of premium fuel, technically the engine is optimized for 89 but can run 87
    • I am still testing out different fuels to see if the price difference is worth the extra mpg.
Overall I love my truck, I just wish Ram was more upfront about the Mpg values because at the end of the day we all pay at the pump.
  • Some key things about my truck
    • Completly stock
    • Crew Cab 4x4
    • 6'4" Bed
    • 5.7 E-Torque
    • 3.92
    • Off-Road Group
    • Air Ride (truck will drop to Aero Mode)
    • 33gal tank
    • GVWR (7100 lb)
    • Max payload (1172 lb)

On my second tank of fuel, getting low to mid 19s, probably 60% highway, 40% city driving. Very impressed so far for a 5000lb 4x4 truck with 400hp.

Here is my 8000 mile lifetime mpg: IMG_3071.JPG

My Limited is stock with tires inflated at 40PSI instead of recommended 36 (truck feels less sluggish this way)
AEM highflow airfilter with carbon filter delete (i don't know how much of a difference in mpg that makes, if any)
Who said that 3.92s cannot get decent fuel economy?
If I had to guess what helps mpg get this high... I would say, it's the granite crystal metallic paint

I wouldn't believe that number if the computer wasn't verifying it. Good for you!

It's got to be the paint...my white tri-coat gets nowhere near that mileage.
