My dad traded in his '17 F-250 for a new 1500 three days ago and let me just start by saying, it's gorgeous and perfectly suited for his needs and he loves it. It was also about $20,000 off the sticker price (67k down to 47k) w/ maintenance for life and a good warranty so that was a deal maker right there. He lives in Rocky Point, Mexico, driving to Tucson frequently and often towing his 6k horse trailer.
Now the problems. First and foremost is a noise that I'm hoping you guys may be able to help us diagnose before taking it to the dealer. It's a squeaking from somewhere outside the truck that starts at about 75 and gets louder with speed. It's pretty loud and incredibly annoying. I'll post a link below for you to listen.
Next, one back window goes off track on the way up and gets jammed, the other makes noise on the way down. All these things should be taken care of by the dealer and I'll update this when we have a diagnosis.
My last question is this - how well do these trucks hold up in corrosive environments? Within two years of salt air and driving on sandy roads in this coastal town, his F-250 was getting trashed. He pressure washed the underside twice a month but it didn't seem to help much. I'm looking into preventatives for him if it will be as much of an issue but, as far as I can tell, there seem to be much more painted surfaces underneath than the ford.
Here's the video. We'd appreciate any suggestions. https://vimeo.com/user100024911/review/343874954/ebc1751868
Pics for attention. The only thing he has done so far is throw some BFG A/T's on.
Thanks in advance, guys, for welcoming an ex-ford guy into your forum.
