My best guess by now... Never...

According to my service manager, an update for the 8.4 was made available to dealers on May 4th. No idea if it will end up on the DIY page on Uconnect.com or be pushed over the air.

Which phone? I can't even tell which phone OS from what was posted.

Apple Car Play working fine with the iPhone XS Max and the 12" +Nav +HK.

Keep us posted. I have the 8.4 Nav and everything works fine but always ready for an update. Really wish the would update the maps. There’s a new Exit on I95 next to my house that opened last year and is not on my maps.

Map updates run about 2 years behind so don't hold your breath. I would wait and update after 2 years so you don't waste money on an update.

Gman:
Curious to know if you've checked Google Maps and Waze. Do they have the new interchange? My Garmins are always way behind but I think Google picks up changes sooner.

My truck came back from the dealer last week. One of the things it was in for was a Usb Hub replacement since CarPlay started to get super glitchy. They also said they updated software. Not sure what that means.

All good here on Google Maps.

I know, but our trucks are running maps from 2017 so we are right on the cusp.

Hate the map that come with the truck there way to enter an address is annoying with auto fill... I just use google maps on my phone way better

I'm not sure about your specific interchange, but I use Google Maps daily. I tried Waze, but found that the information was typically old or behind. The built-in Nav traffic was doing better than Waze.

The keyboard lockout for the infotainment system is pretty stupid. My wife is the 'navigator' and she's unable to enter information while the vehicle is in motion. Thanks Nanny Police.

The voice recognition for navigation is not intuitive, pretty much like every other system. If you give a number like twenty-four sixty-two, it loses its mind. You have to state each number separately, like two-four-six-two. And they say AI is here and self-driving cars are right around the corner. Yeah, whatever.

Understand, google maps gets their traffic info from Waze.
Where the hell did you get that little nugget? Google Maps gets GPS speed data from people running Google Maps. Waze has incident reporting, but Google is adding that functionality to Google Maps (available already on Android).

Waze is owned by Google, so are they really getting the data from Waze?

Anyhoo, I've compared the traffic data in my commutes between Google Maps and Waze, and Google Maps much more closely resembles reality. The incident reporting on Waze seems to remain even after the issue is resolved. Google Maps is much closer to 'real-time'.

Here’s a great article describing how Google (owner of both Google Maps and Waze) provides traffic information in Google Maps:

What’s impressive is that Google Maps combines GPS triangulation of all users PLUS Waze crowdsourced data PLUS local government agency traffic data to provide incredibly accurate traffic data.

Yeah, I found this more recent article as well: http://www.itfixtech.com/blog/how-does-google-map-work-and-gather-data

Hello kittyjo,

We're sorry to hear you're having a hard time with your USB port and screen. Are you planning on getting this inspected by your dealer? Send me a direct message if you decide to head in and I'll escalate a case for further handling.
