So (tire) size DOES matter?

Thinking about getting a travel trailer, haven't decided which one yet. Probably in the 24'-26' range. My 2020 Limited stock tires are 285/45R22XL. I'm thinking these are not the tires to tow with... What do you all have or recommend?

The 22’s come with the XL load rating vs the 20’s standard load rating (SL). So they have a stiffer sidewall which is great for towing.

I’ve got about 7,000 miles towing on mine so far.

The stock 22’s are rated for a 2,601 lbs load @ 50 psi.

That means @ full inflation (5,202 lbs) they will exceed GAWR (4,100 lbs).

The stock tires are questionable, but they are designed to handle the payload and tow rating listed for the truck

Ohh that I know… they’re just sad looking I like them beefier I have at3’s on the Chevy (my trade in) they aren’t bad but seeing what others use on the rams kids definitely like that smoother drive

The stock tires are highway tires. Nice & quiet & a great ride. Perfect for towing. Not the greatest off road, mud ,or heavy snow though.

285/45/22 Goodyear on a BH ?

I thought they get Bridgestone for the 18”/20” wheels
OEM tires in general, from my experience. My BH had Bridgestones that were out of round. My 2017 had 20's with Goodyears that were worn at 20k. YMMV, I don't have much luck with OEM tires

"Leveling" kits are for mall crawlers who don't want to use their trucks.

Lift kits are a different story.

Neither are super optimal for towing, but a mild lift won't hurt.
Leveling is what i can afford for now. I want to do a 6inch lift kit. Just hesitant an pulling that money out.

smaller diameter tire is 'better' for towing if you are concerned about gear ratio, but it seems your question is a little vague on what you are actually concerned with. Is it durability, stability, comfort, safety, something else?

Durability, stability safety are most important. BTW my ratio is 3.21

Your OEM tires will be fine, but if you want a better ride I'd drop to 18's or 20's. More sidewall typically means cushier ride, and you can get some higher load rating tires if you so choose. It also means you don't have to run them at max pressure to hit the load ratings which improves ride quality.
