SO Hurricane at drag strip

This guy is running at the 1/8 mile track I work at tonight. Running 9.0 in the 1/8 mile so far.

He's at 8.9 now. That would be a low 14 sec 1/4 time.

What? Not sure how you even came up with that. I'm guessing on what gear ratio it had, and there wasn't another Hurricane RAM there for comparison

If you're talking theoretical maximum top speed then yes, but there might be additional limitations that ultimately keep it from being faster at the top end.

Higher numbers are always better for drag racing (lower quarter mile times). Back in the day we ran 4.56 or 4.88's. Gas mileage sucked though!!!

3.21 will be faster for a roll or top end pull from highway speeds, 3.92 will be better from a launch. There is no free lunch in rear gearing you either give up low end or top end. Can’t have both.

I don't believe you can get 3.21 with the Hurricane.
