Slight vibration

My vibration is gone, and so is my original 2019 RAM 1500 Limited! I test drove FIVE new 2019 RAM trucks in different trim levels, with and without air suspension, and all with 22" Goodyear Touring tires/wheels. They all vibrated, some were really bad!!!! I noticed a 2020 RAM Sport on the lot with 20" Bridgestone Duelers and asked to take it for a ride. It was the smooooooooothest riding vehicle I'd ever driven. Since my four-week-old truck had been at the dealer for 17 days, road force balance X 2, three sets of new tires/wheels, escalation to STAR, RAM care, etc. they did not provide a solution. I asked for a new truck. After much pain, I picked up my new 2019 RAM Limited last night with the 20" Bridgestones from the 2020 RM mounted on it and the ride was amazing!!!! They put the 22" junk on the 2020 Sport. After four weeks the vibration nightmare is over for me. The 22" tire and wheel combo was the cause of vibration IMO.
I'm happy for you. However, I have a 2019 Laramie with the 20" Bridestones and I have the vibration. Road force balancing helped, but hasn't eliminated the problem. I hope your 20" Bridgestones end up being better than mine, and that the problem doesn't resurface in the future for you.

Have tires ProBalanced by a shop that has a direct drive balancer, low taper collets, adjustable pin plates, and knows how to use them.

Hard to believe they'll try to sell the other trucks with your wheels on it.

They will just tell the same story to the next unknowing customer. Customer on test drive: "It vibrates". Salesman and Service adviser: "Oh, that's nothing to worry about, just flat spots in the tires. Will be gone in no time". Grrrh...
 
I’m test driving a 2019 Laramie demo tomorrow with an early 2018 build date and will try to be on the lookout for the many issues stated here. It has 6000 miles on it. With the vibration in particular, is it mostly between 50-70 MPH and did it happen to most of you before the 6000 mile mark. Sorry for all of you having problems. Any help would be appreciated.

I primarily experienced it around 60 mph, but last week it seemed to get worse. I could feel it in the 70s. I'm at the shop today and we'll see what they say. I've emailed service twice before with descriptions of my issue but everytime I show up for appointments they act like it's first time hearing of my issue. They try hard to avoid it, so make sure you keep bringing it up. They even avoid documenting it on service reports. I think they do this for future litigation..
 
My truck is making another appearence tomorrow 12/3/2019 for this, and MANY MANY other issues. Not holding my breath as this dealer I am going to now "Has never heard of such a thing"....My truck at 20,000 miles drives me nuts with so many things wrong. Really not happy with it, hopefully then can change my mind before I turn it into another brand that I do not want to do.

I'm right there with you. I want to love this truck, but the vibration keeps me from doing so. I've had so many new vehicles over the last 10 years and my trucks have been the worst. You would think that a truck would be more reliable, but my experience has not been that way. I bought a new 2016 F-150 with the 2.7L Ecoboost and that thing smoked at startup. They had to replace the cylinder heads. Crazy for a brand new truck, so got rid of it and got a 2016 Expedition. Had numerous issues; creaking, HVAC issues, sunroof issues, etc. Haven't tried a newer Chevy/GMC yet, but hear horror stories about those as well, so decided on a Ram. Actually, the best truck I've owned so far was the Nissan Titan. Depending on what Toyota does with Tundra down the road; I will likely get the Titan next go around.

An update on my service appointment yesterday: They drove the truck and service tech "did" notice the vibration. They are requesting information from Ram to find out "if they have seen this issue before" and if so, what to do about it.
 
What you described is exactly what I'm going through now. It's been about 4 weeks since I picked up my 2019 RAM 1500 Limited with 22' Goodyear Touring tires. The deal put on three different sets of tires and wheels, road force balance them and performed an unknown number of 'try this' from the FCA Tech and STAR Engineering. I just had to make my 1st payment and the dealer has put over 400 of the 600 miles on the truck in test drives. I contacted FCA Customer Care, who told me 'each dealership is independently owned and operated' and it's up to them to offer a buy-back or trade toward a new NON-VIBRATING truck. So... I went to the dealership, talked to the GM who was 'happy' to help me pick out a new truck. I found one about $3K more than the one I bought, and he wanted $10,300 more from me because my truck was USED and he couldn't sell as a new truck again. Yeah, he wanted me to pay his margin on selling my truck as used with 600 miles on it.....FAIL

So I too have this problem with my 2019 Laramie. Shook when I bought it dealer said tires had been sitting but that was not it. It is at the dealer now for the 11th day. They have balanced the tires, Road force balanced the tires, Changed one tire now replacing all 4 tires. I still have the 30 day tags on the truck and haven't driven it two weeks since I have had it. While in the shop Avis rental car gave me a 2019 ram 4 door basic truck and it rides smoother than my 60 thousand dollar truck. I am hopeful that they get it right but by the looks on here I may be screwed. I am looking into the Lemon Laws in my area and thinking that this may be the only other route. I will keep posted what they find out

There has to be an issue in the rear end or somewhere. this site has 34 pages of the same problem spanning the length of a year and no fix. I am now looking into a lawyer to see if I can keep my sanity.

Good luck! I have one more service visit before I can qualify for the lemon law, but I see it in my very near future. Not sure how it works with a lease though. I would lease another Ram, as long as it doesn't shake.
 
Does anyone think A hellwig sway bar would potentially help?

I'll be at the dealer tomorrow for my shake issue. Will bring this up, along with the other possible fixes. (Michelin tires and vibration damper replacement)
Charp, Did you have any luck with this when you went back to the dealer?????
 
My 2020 has the vibration too. I was really hoping to be done with the vibrations with my replacement but I guess not. After obsessing over this for over a year, I really believe it has something to do with the ATMM’s and cold starts since mine on both trucks is generally most noticeable on the first drive of the day. Who knows...but it is annoying and disappointing.

Service writer and technician drove the vehicle without me. The service writer came back and said the tech did notice the vibration and that they will contact Ram to see what they recommend. They told me to keep driving it and they will reach out to me in a few days. They said they may need to put it on lift side-by-side with a non-vibrating 1500 and go from there. It's been 8 days since that visit and still no word. I really feel that this is the game they play to keep pushing the can down the road. I'll be calling them again to schedule service. This time I'll insist that they try something and provide a loaner. It was bad this morning and I'm regretting the purchase. It's so unfortunate, because everything else about the truck is great. My daily commute is all 55-65 mph, so right in the vibration range. If I drove on interstate or even city streets it wouldn't be as bad.

I've definitely been noticing the vibration more at all speeds after the first start of the day, especially with it being colder now. Just getting out of my neighborhood at 15mph, it's like the tires are going over rumble strips. So during that first trip of the day, the whole truck just seems off. Vibrations pretty much at all speeds, very sluggish engine, sometimes feeling like it's going to stall, etc. And I only live in Northern Virginia where it's been around 35-45 degrees in the morning. I can't imagine how some of these trucks drive and feel in much colder climates. Maybe my truck just doesn't like doing mornings :)

I agree that it’s definitely more noticeable on the first drive on cold mornings. I experienced it yesterday morning, much more vibrations than I normally feel.

Another update: Ram specialist drove and inspected. Says two tires won't road force balance and are ordering 2 more. Note that all of my tires have been replaced once already. From reading this forum, I'm not at all optimistic. Left the truck with them over the weekend and hoping it gets fixed by Monday evening. However, I repair complex medical devices for a living and I still think it's related to the ATMMs. My dad says he owned a GMC Sierra with the cylinder deactivation and he couldn't tell any difference in how the truck performed. Why in the hell can't Ram make their system work this way. There is a distinct change (sound, feel, etc) in how my truck performs when it goes in and out of "eco" mode. If they can't fix the vibration then I will pass it along to the National Center for Dispute Resolution (NCDS).
 
Had the truck at the dealer again for the vibration. They had it from 12/3 to 12/12. After failing to repair numerous other issues it has the vibration, of course, is not only still there, but I am told by Ramcares and the dealer it is "normal operating characteristic of the truck". They drove two more off the lot that has the exact vibration. Ram Cares don't give 2 ****s about us and neither do these dealers. Time to step up and get a lawyer. I had no plans on owning a $57,000.00 vibrator.
 
Charp, I'm just curious which dealer you bought your RAM at and been dealing with. I only ask because I am looking in KY at several dealerships.
