The warning came on for the first time on the way home today. Got to a stop light, shifted into park, then back out, and it seemed to stay off. I have searched the forum and google with little info on severity or true meaning (beyond the obvious).

My 2017 Ram had literally zero issues in 2.5 years. Naturally this truck with 900 (yes, nine hundred) would start the electrical worm hole.

Seeking advice from anyone that has come across this to go to the dealer with some background knowledge.

Thanks!

Hi Xlur8ed,

I'm sorry to hear of the trouble you are currently experiencing! If it would be of interest, we would be more than happy to escalate a case on your behalf to connect you with a case specialist who can provide you with an additional layer of support as you address this with your dealer. Our team is just a private message away.

Thanks Mark,

This slope has been fairly slippery and after about losing my wits at the dealer, I have reached out to Mopar direct at the 800-992-1997 number.

The dealer has reprogrammed the shifter - alert came back day later
The dealer has replaced the shifter - alert came on 20 minutes after picking the truck up.

I'm now at 2000 miles on the truck and have thus far done nothing other than regret making this purchase...not exclusively for this 'service shifter' issue, but the list goes on. I had a spidey sense that a truck with all this electronics could be a nightmare. Unfortunately I ignored my better/smarter half.

I sincerely regret to hear your sentiments, Xlur8ed. Would you mind following up via PM to provide me with your VIN? I would like to look into your situation further on my end to determine how to best assist you at this point. Hope to hear from you soon.

Hey there,

This happened to me for the first time today along with an auto shift into neutral. If you’re still around, may I ask what happened and what they ended up doing to fix it? It was just a one-off but I’d rather know what to expect in case things go haywire.

Knock on wood.
