Hey all,

Few days ago I was driving my truck around town, stopped at a light and engine shut off as it should with start stop. Go to let my foot off the brake and the truck throws itself into park, and engages parking brake. Dash flashed some messages but I don’t remember them as I was confused why the truck is in park at that moment.. fast forward to today.. moving it around in my garage I get the service auto start/stop light that won’t go away upon power cycling or restarting. Seems like there are a plethora of things that can cause this. Has anyone had something similar to this and what resolved it? Thanks!

Moved my truck again in my garage while ceramic coating it and what do you know... the lights gone and won’t come back. Stay tuned.

May want to change the color of your signature items as no one can see them unless I try to highlight them with my mouse ;)

Any updates? My instance at a light sounded similar. Mine turned over wld not start. then it started. Dash light has come on twice since. 2019 with etourque I guess I need to take it in

Mine happened that one time mentioned in the original post. Have not had the truck throw itself in park or the service auto start/stop light come on since.

Hello @z0n3, please keep us updated on this concern. If you resolve to bringing your vehicle in for dealer service, we would be happy to offer additional assistance throughout that process.

Mine regularly throws that warning. It's reproducible by idling, inching forward in traffic, or coming to a complete stop like a red light before the engine has a chance to completely warm up. It only resets after cycling power. Sometimes it is accompanied by a P0507 higher than normal idle error. Shop said I need to press the break harder so I don't confuse the start/stop system...that's not the correct answer. I have never gotten the additional messages though.

Just more dealer bull$hit when they don't know the answer.

I’ve only had my Rebel a few weeks and I had it do something strange like this yesterday. I was in traffic, light turned green, but my tuck was not responding when I gave it gas. It was flashing something about the brake, but I was too panicked to read it because I was sitting in an intersection with people honking at me. I turned the truck off and back on and was able to go. I was thinking it had something to do with front collision warning, but now I’m I thinking it’s this. I also can’t figure out when the auto/start stop is supposed to happen. It’s totally random on my truck. Sometimes it does, sometimes not and seems like it hasn’t done it since this issue.

Based on several factors including whether the climate control is calling for heat or AC. It can be random but not crazy random.

I have had this issue numerous times also so you are not going crazy (I thought I was mistaken the first time it happened to me) and felt like an idiot when the dealer tried to explain how the start/stop system works (I had to force the issue that it really died died at the stop light, put itself into Park and I actually had to press the start/stop button to restart it, then shift it into Drive before I could continue on my merry way). Sounds like it has not been resolved yet.
I am taking it to a different dealer later this week to be looked at again as it is close to being out of warranty and I want to get it resolved or at least documented how often it has happened. The new dealer is actually researching the issue (or so they said). They have heard of issues with the connectivity to the secondary battery that is dedicated to the start/stop system, or something like that. It has happened to me at least 7 times, the first 3 before the truck had 9000 miles on it.
Before it is completely warmed up is interesting from Horish above, I have not tracked that, but mine have all happened in cooler/colder weather, between October and January in the Midwest. I'll watch for updates, hopefully someone has finally resolved it.
