Semiconductor Chip Shortage Causes Ram To Repackage Some Options:

Ram 1500 & Ram Heavy Duty Models Are Affected...

Some important information for those looking at purchasing or ordering a Big Horn/Lone Star or Laramie right now.

Any idea how this will affect already ordered trucks? I ordered in November and am still in BG status as of Monday. I did add the blind spot and the rest of the specs are in my dig. Canadian sport model

Ya that's a good question. If it affect those of us that ordered already and it isn't an option anymore then I'm going to cancel my order. I know they want to make vehicles but that is a safety option I will not give up. Makes me feel like if I need to find a truck as close to mine and buy it if the option isn't there anymore.

so the only 1500 trim affected is the Laramie? I wonder why this doesn't change other trims.

I'd be interested in how it's going to impact existing orders too. I ordered on 1/20 and have been told all parts are in and just waiting on scheduling. Is that all parts for the "new package" or what I actually ordered?

The standalone XAN option will remain closed across all trim levels (where applicable). The note to dealers stated that Limited Longhorn, Limited, Ram 1500 TRX, and Ram 2500 Power Wagon packages will remain unchanged for the time being.

I reached out to my sales people to get clarification on this if it is going to affect orders out there currently but they are waiting to hear back from their rep. Has anyone else reached out to their sales person to check?

my salesperson is impossible to get ahold of... ram chat told me today it doesn't affect their trucks at all... HAH

From the articles that I have read none of them said that FCA was slowing production or shutting down any RAM truck facilities but that doesn't mean that shifts can't be shortened (3 shifts to 2 or 1) and wait times become longer. The articles the guys wrote is great but leaves questions to be answered.

I ordered on 1/22 and have Laramie Level 2. Wrote my SA today to see what he says. BSM is something I won't give up!! I do have a VIN so trying to understand if this impacts future orders or ???

Just heard back from my rep and he said they just had a conference call this morning about it. Sold orders stay intact and everything else is changing. He didn't say if anything would be delayed more or not.

Just heard back from my SA. He said that there are no changes to my order....that they have been notified of anyway! Seems to emulate what Snofire found out. Hopefully this holds!

I am waiting to hear back from Ram. It sounds like trucks that have been ordered up until February will still get the Blind-Spot Monitoring if ordered. However, due to the shortage, it may take longer to have the truck built.

I have but so far no reassurance yet on sold orders already submitted.

Hopefully this is accurate. Wonder if the conference included someone in the know from Ram or not?

BSM and parking are two must haves.

Sorry to read you can not reach your salesperson. I went through the same situation. Eventually you will have your Ram. And if he/she is like my sales person he/she will be looking for a new job.

This was posted on a related forum so I thought it would be helpful to anyone following this thread. Hopefully it is accurate!

I placed an order on 2.8.21 and in conversation with my dealer this is what he shared with me. Dealership inventory as we all see is at a record low. Sold orders are taking precedence over dealer stock from the factory. FCA has a stock pile of these chips, they are being allocated to Sold Orders and High Level Trim takes precedent due to the fact they have all other components for those builds on hand and rather then let that inventory sit on a self, sell to those who order.

My local salesperson told me it was affecting the blind spot monitoring and people were getting a $200 credit toward their builds. This article just confirms what he was saying. I'm in the semiconductor industry and we are slammed.
