After dealing with customer care for a month i'm going to arbitration . customer care after month of back and forth says they cant override digital imaging which denied warranty , what a waste of time they are. They could have told me that on day one. This delimitation on a new so called leather seat is not acceptable it started on week one. i Know we have had this discussion before and I'm beating a dead horse but two shops have told me that they think this panel on the seats is not real leather but some of the seat is. You judge by the picture but i know if they don't fix this on a 70,000 dollar truck they have lost my business. i have bought a new high end ram every three years and this 2019 has been a thorn in my side with all its little issues since day one. I had this as well. FCA replaced under warranty. My dealership pushed hard for me. Is your dealer trying, if not try another dealership, maybe. I know of at least one other person on this forum that had his replaced as well. Good luck. After I got mine replaced put seat covers on my front seats. Don’t want it to happen again. You can see my post under “What did you do to your Ram today” thread.

I am supposed to have mine replaced this week under warranty. There seems to be multiple incidents of this happening with this color interior. If this is happening so early there is a really good chance all the seats will be in rough shape over the next few years. Very disappointing to say the least. Mine is being replaced which is good for now but not feeling good long term. I wish they would find a solution and replace all covers to ensure long term durability. Love the truck overall though!

So, after being told the seat cover would be replaced, my truck sat at the dealership for 2 days and when I called for an update they told me it was denied. This is my first experience with anything other than Toyota so I may just be spoiled but this should be covered with no question. I contacted customer care and waiting for a call back but should not have to go to that extreme. I love the truck but customer service at 4 different dealerships has not been good at all. Hopefully customer care will get it figured out but it is a shame you have to fight for standard warranty issues.

Check my message history. You will find some stating that I put seat covers on my front seats, this after having FCA replace front driver seat. I am not taking any chances. The covers I chose, at least do blend in with the frost interior. Not a perfect solution, just the way it is.

Just so I understand you're covering your seats so they don't wear?.... for what gain? Is this for future trade in / sale? @$70K I'd want to sit on the leather and continue to hold FCA accountable to repair / replace. That's just me though and I can be stubborn at times :)

I am in agreement with you, the only reason for a seat cover is you work in an industry that your clothing (dirt/grease/kitchen) would cause abnormal wear and tear. I am not saying folks are wrong but I want to enjoy my seats and if they wear in 4 years then I will fork over a few hundred bucks and replace the cover. Katzkin leather is like 700 for the whole truck,

Please keep us posted. This was one of the two colors we were considering for our Ram.

I looked at my driver seat and it is also starting to de-laminate/flake. I had a very early May 2018 Delivery truck and have not any problems (including AC) until this seat issue.

Well i dealt with them for a month constantly calling every week because they did not call me only to find out after all that time they cant override digital imaging. Im now going to arbitration , the outcome will decide if i continue to buy a new Ram limited every three years when the warranty is up like i have. like i say good luck with them.

This is a pigmented leather where there was either a chemical problem in the coating or contamination on the leather. Note, the color is in the pigmented layer. It is a common form of leather but is really a coating on top of the leather. The leather has that grey color of the exposed piece. My guess is the visible grain is all done with embossing.

It should be possible to have it refinished. Refinishing is done as part of tear repairs.

It is quite possible that the Ram dealer doesn't have a leather refinisher who makes regular visits. However, your local Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, or Jaguar dealer might. I'd give them a call. We had a small tear and a small hole repaired on my wife's car and you couldn't tell any work was done.

FCA should pay for it. Given that they don't seem to have a handle on the white exterior colors yellowing on the flexible pieces (a problem some manufacturers had 10 years ago) and that lots of people here are reporting a problem with the Frost in the Frost Indigo interior, my guess it is a manufacturing problem that has a probability of being present in replacement seats or replacement seat covers. We don't know if it is the coating mix or the surface prep...but the Frost is a unique color that isn't common in auto interiors, especially trucks.

Where it is occurring on your seat it appears the pigment/sealer isn't bonding to the leather. That portion of the seat flexes but gets little to no abrasion.

It sounds like the RamCares wasn't able to assist. You can also try to contact the management, but here that becomes a problem. Even more so here, since Reid Bigland, head of Ram, has sued FCA over compensation after a whistleblowing incident. Mark Champine is head of quality for North America, appointed last year. You might want to reach out to him.

FCA should be fixing this with no questions asked. It's clearly a case of defective parts... most people with this interior don't have a problem. And as another person mentioned, that area doesn't see abrasion, only flexure, so it seems the color did not adhere properly during manufacture.

With the Limited and Longhorn models Ram has moved squarely into luxury car territory... and so their service needs to work more like a BMW or Lexus dealer rather than a Fiat or Kia dealer.
