I have a 2019 1500 Tradesman Classic (3.6L Flex Fuel Pentastar engine) that has thrown a P06DD for the past year off and on. It generally only happens when the ambient temp is 65F or lower before the oil temp is up to about 150F. It used to be intermittent and clear after a few drive cycles, but now it throws the code any time I dont let the engibe fully warm up and I've noticed some rough idling when the check engine light is on. Additionally, it seems to be burning oil ever so slightly (one oil change after 6,000 miles only drained 5q instead of 6q). I put black light/ UV dye in it last night to check for leaks outside of the engine as well. Results TBD.
Of course there are a few possible causes: a bad sensor or a bad solenoid/switch. Oil levels have not been an issue (I change it very frequently), and oil type is correct. Wiring problems are also possible, but thats a whole separate discussion.
TLDR: Considering the amount of work required to access the assembly, should I only replace tge sensor, ir would it be worth it to just replace tge sensor and solenoid, or the oil filter assembly entirely? I dont particularly want to go through the entire process twice as I do all my own work.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Also, please refrain from posting comments directing me to a dealership/shop - they will be dismissed.
Thank you
