Refinish the lip of a rim or two...

Today was an annoying day... I curbed my right front wheel trying to get out of a stupidly small parking lot. I couldn’t get the angle to go down the ramp due to someone with a long truck parking in front of it. I knew this would happen as soon as I turned in, but at least I only got the rim instead of the bodywork.

Does anyone know how much it would be to get the lip where the tire (it’s a tyre, damn it ... I’ll leave the British me at home) sits refinished? It doesn’t look terrible and is hard to see, but the perfectionist in me is bothered by it.

I was considering getting them fixed if it can be done within a day as I need my truck, and then going from there.

Does anyone know how much this might cost? I can’t imagine it would be a whole lot.

I think it really depends on how bad it is, where you live, etc. Near me they can completely refinish a pretty banged up rim for $100 but I'm guessing that will fluctuate a lot. Rims that are dipped, clearcoated, grooved, etc are more complicated. Sounds like yours are pretty easy. Usually the lips can just be sanded/dremeled and then filled/polished. A good detail shop should have a guy. You can also ask your dealership, I'm sure they have someone they use and they might just flip you the name so they don't have to play middle man.

This is the one I did this weekend...

My other one was done months ago and is a little more of a scar, but same principle.

Easy peasy to fix. If you're adventurous and handy you can try to do it yourself. Lots of vids on YouTube. Otherwise a decent wheel guy can fix that easily.
