Rear Suspension Bang!

Twice now, after going over only a modest bump, I get a loud bang noise from my right rear. In both cases it's only this wheel that's hitting the bump. Loud! I haven't tried to duplicate it but it doesn't sound like any other vehicle I've ever owned hitting a bump. Anybody else experience this?

I have a Rebel with air suspension.

My rebel with air makes a louder noise than I’m used to while going over railroad tracks or other sharp bumps. I chalked it up to airbags, but I don’t think I’d quite call it a Big Bang like yours seems. Any mods to suspension?

I have the Limited with air suspension and I've never come across anything that could be equated to a 'bang'.

Bang might be too strong a word. It's a really loud thunk. Loud enough to make a normally off-in-space teenager exclaim, "what was that?" I went over the same exact bump today and no noise. I feel like as if some sort of tension gets built up somewhere and releases when it hits. Almost like it needs grease somewhere. Can't say where though.

Hi Zinger,
Should you decide to have your dealer address this, please send our team a private message. We would be happy to get you connected with a case specialist to assist throughout this process!

Strange. Like Gman, my Limited has never done this.

Get it inspected by the dealer. Not normal.

double check if it is your hitch or spare tire bouncing around. I had a little play in between my harbor freight hitch going into stock reciever. while unloaded hitting large bumps/ RR would hear it.
Little duct tape on back and front of hitch hidden inside receiver, closed the gap and silenced it.

My 2019 Laramie does the same thing. Seems suspension related, hard to reproduce though. Sounds like a thud under the floor of the truck.

Just a thought. Do you have power running boards? Every once in a while, they don't retract until a few seconds after closing the doors, resulting in the thunk you describe while driving.

What's everyone's build date?

Go check out the front body mount tsb, it describes a loud thunk in the floor under strong articulation. Not the tsb for the sway bar links, that's a different thing, and only related to newer trucks. (once again, check your build dates).

There's a new body mount TSB for new trucks? I remember the body mount TSB being one of the earlier ones. They wouldn't even try to check the sway bar links until they completed the body mount TSB.

Not sure when they had the cutoff for the body mount tsb, but I know the sway bar one is from this year, sometime around april or march build dates is where it starts I believe. I know my august build qualified for the body mounts., and I want to say it cut off in October or November. I'll see if I can check real quick

Edit: Looks like the Sway bar one is an RRT / TSB and goes back further than I thought.

The body mount TSB covers trucks from Jan 08, 2018 thru October 10, 2018.

The sway bar link TSB covers trucks from Novemer 01 2018 thru March 04, 2019.

My truck was built in September and had to have the sway bar end links replaced...so I think those dates are BS.
