Rant about people

A car or truck is just a tool (I'm saying this more to myself than anything), and it's subject to all kinds of hazards. Debris getting kicked up off a road, bad weather and driving conditions, and of course, other drivers.

I spent all kinds of $$, my fault, on a 2021 Rebel in June. Didn't need one that "nice", but I like my vehicles and drive a fair amount, so to me, it's as important as a comfy couch -- right or wrong.

And someone has ALREADY hit my rear bumper. I just noticed it yesterday in my driveway, so who knows when it happened. Has all the markings of a parking lot job (probably someone turning into a parking spot and doesn't know the front end limits of their car). Now, it's just a deep scuff in the driver's side corner, and not even worthy of a picture, but I may have to get it taken care of because it's in the metal portion of the bumper and it looks like it's deep enough to rust.

No note, of course. People suck.

Someone did this to my first car that was already a beater. Fortunately, they were still parked when I left. I made sure to repay them in kind.

Yes, people suck. Dash cams and/or all around cameras are pretty much becoming a must. Dash cams have already paid for themselves many times over with my wife's vehicle.

People don't care about other people's property. What really pisses me off is when I come out of a store and see a cart up against my truck, no matter where I park.

I HATE that...I'll park a mile away without a car in sight and come out to a car right next to mine, with still no other cars in sight. As I'm always wearing steal toes it makes me want to kick the **** out of their car real quick, WTF is wrong with people?

I run dual dash cams now in all my vehicles because of things like this. It’s not so much that I’m worried about insurance covering it as it is me wanting the person that’s being dumb to be responsible for what they did.

I would love to get inside of a person’s head. Especially when we purposely park away from other cars, and have at least 3-4 parking spaces on each side. Then someone parks right next to you , when there is clearly plenty of parking spots.

I ended up doing this yesterday and getting b***ched at about it. I was with my wife and kid and wanted to park away from everybody, so I parked one spot over diagonally from a suv and there was no one in front of me. A work truck drove up on the opposite side and parked so close my wife couldn’t get out. I pulled forward next to the SUV. As I was getting my son out, she started going off about how the whole parking lot was empty and people are parking next to other people. I wanted to say something back, but I realized I don’t owe that woman anything.

Some people are bad people. It's the "must be nice" mentality. Since they don't have a nice vehicle then "screw you". If you dwell on it too long it can eat you alive. I just try to protect myself the best I can and try to be a nice person because I don't wanna end up sour like them.

That made me laugh out loud. When I was a punk a$$ teenager, some dirtbag parked his tuna boat really close to my '70 Mach 1 and left me a door ding. I was wearing steel toe boots and I kicked the crap out of his door... front and back kicks. I was so pissed, but that felt so good. Unfortunately, he probably didn't notice. 😂

Hit and run is almost as bad as a flat out thief.

My wife's car (she left unlocked so her bad) was ransacked the other night. She left her debit card in it too (duh) so of course they hit the local Walmart for $1K of merchandise, money she won't see for probably 7 days now. Notwithstanding the thousand times I've told her to ditch the debit and use a CC only for better protection (we have no joint accounts), or leaving it in her car, or leaving the car unlocked (garage needed cleanout from HER stuff).

The person puts the truck OR2 with the steps deployed, and still parks at the other end of the lot.
I tried that once ... left the truck parked for 6 hours and came back to a dead battery.
I read somewhere after the fact that leaving the running boards deployed will drain the battery.

Many don't care about their own property, let alone others.

Thank you for letting us know, I have not tried it.

There must be another issue. Were the boards programmed in properly? I leave my boards out days on end as my wife has a tendency to open her door too far and bump my truck. I've never had the battery drain from the steps being deployed.

If I see a nice vehicle parked alone like that sometimes I will go park by them because I know they pay enough attention to their vehicle that they won’t hurt mine, just like I won’t hurt theirs. Birds of a feather kind of thing.

I agree with RebelWraith. I do this all the time and haven't had any battery issues. wd40, you might want to get that checked out because it's not normal for that to happen.

I do the same but a few spots away from them.
