Range Day...let’s see what everyone shoots!

I was able to hit the long range this weekend. One of my favorites is Big Boy. Aero matched set, Wilson Combat Super Sniper 308 barrel, Magpul PRS Gen 3 stock, bipod, D-50, Diamondhead VRS handguard and Nikon M Tactical scope and rings.

Dang I wish our range was longer, only goes out to 300m.

Rebel, yeah I'm fortunate to have a few long ranges near me. It seems to be a growing sport here. Just about everyone is running a suppressor now so they can hear the steel targets ring. I'm one of only two guys running a 308 in competition now, everyone else has gone to the 6.5 Creedmore.

Nice collection you get there... I almost went with the SR9 but decided to go with the Springfield XD9... I still kept my very first Ruger... P95 Ruger (DA/SA)

The mosin's are fun to shoot and ammo is cheap. Just be sure to clean it right after shooting as the ammo is corrosive.

In the spirit of 4th of July, I just went and bought a new gun... FN 509 Tactical in FDE. Certainly not because I needed it, barely have room in the safe. I bought because I can. Thanks to the military and all the veterans out there that defends our great nation, and my right to buy a gun just because I wanted one!

I still want an FN SCAR 7.62 myself but Offutt AFB keeps selling them as soon as they come in LOL

Corrosive? I’ve never heard of that

The old Russian surplus 7.62x54r rounds have corrosive primers. They have salts in them that will corrode the metal inside the barrel. Best thing to do is take some Windex (with ammonia) with you to the range and dump a little down the barrel after you're done shooting. The ammonia neutralizes the salts.

Interesting. The box of rounds I have for it has a paper wrap in the box. Only time I’ve ever seen that. They are Monarch, which I think is Academy’s ammo brand, so they aren’t old. Any idea why they have that?
