Overall sales down due to less fleet sales

It's May 1st which means FCA has just released their sales numbers for the month of April. The Ram truck brand moved 36,560 vehicles to retail customers, this is the most retail sales the brand has ever had in the month of April, edging out last Aprils record of 35,558 retail sales by 3 percent. While retail sales were up, fleet sales were down bringing overall sales down 9% compared to last year. Retail and fleet sales combined, the Ram brand sold 43,074 vehicles in the month of April.

The 2019 Ram 1500 started trickling into dealer lots in March, with trucks finally making it to the west coast around the end of April. With yesterdays news that the production ramp up is not going as planned we believe it will be a few months yet until dealers start to receive the all new Ram 1500 in significant volume. It is at that point that we will begin to see how the new truck fares in the market place.

They've been up in retail for a few month straight, correct? Wasn't Jan or Feb their best retail month respectively as well? Cant remember. In any case, good that more individuals have been choosing Ram. High incentive on the outgoing DS probably helps.

They have - truck sales overall are VERY strong. Ford has been posting record month after month. I'd have thought incentives would have slowed down, but thankfully not!

According to REUTERS Reporting this morning - Mostly paraphrasing & quoting -- 'Overall for the auto industry it's been a "roller coaster ride" with weakness in February & a Jump in March !
Sales are Expected to Fall further in 2018 as higher Interest rates push-up monthly car payments . Also, 'millions of nearly new vehicles will return to the market THIS Year, after coming off leases, providing a lower-cost alternative .
NISSAN's taken a Plunge across the board in April .
G.M. "estimates" indicate an 8% decline in April .
Ford; only their F150's had a 0.9% rise, while the rest of their product Fell too .
*FCA - Overall Sales Increase of 5% on April, But Retail Sales to Consumers was Down 1%, while Fleet Sales to Rental Companies & Government Agencies were up 5% . And JEEP set another new record for April, But RAM pickups were Down 9% in April . I said in diff. post that I believe (IMO) it's related to IN PART the DS /DT Consumer "choice conundrum" and the RAILS and the Plant + ? . . . issues !?

But as RAM FANs we are Patient and I look for better days - especially in the Delivery Status & Quality Control . . . good times ahead !

ps; Jared, Is there some sort of "time limit" when using BOLD - cause, well look above, the top portion reverted back to regular print . . . this has happened many other times too - weird !?
