Ram 1500 REV May Get Smart Hood Closure Assist System

Newly Granted Patent Hints at Clever Frunk Venting System for Ram’s Delayed Electric Truck

Stellantis may be gearing up to give the upcoming Ram 1500 REV a high-tech solution to an overlooked problem: making it easier to shut the frunk. A new patent filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) strongly suggests that a Hood Closure Assist System is in the works—and the design looks tailor-made for the electric Ram pickup.

My first thought was, that seems like a good idea. My second thought went right to the first person that takes it into the dealer with an issue... "Ma'm, your frunk bladder had been compromised, we need to replace it"

For the Frunk, how about a user selected PIN code to lock the frunk so if you have the frunk loaded with luggage, tools, photography gear or anything else you want to keep locked up you could select a four digit pin that has to be entered on the center console display to lock / unlock the frunk.

This feature could be selected OFF or ON in the menu for the frunk.

This way when you leave your RAM for service or with the hotel valet you can store valuables in your frunk and the frunk can only be opened by you after you have entered the four digit PIN on the center console display.

If you don’t need this feature then you could select it to OFF and the frunk’s lock would be on the same system as the rest of the truck when you unlock / lock all of the doors.
