Ram 1500 floormat pressing accelerator to floor causing vehicle to go into compression test mode?

I took my 2022 Ram 1500 to get an oil change (at an independent oil change business not affiliated with any Mopar dealership) and upon completion, my vehicle would not start.....it would turn over and over and it sounded like it wasn't getting any gas. It was towed to the dealership and I was told the floor mat on the drivers side had pushed accelerator all the way to the floor causing the vehicle to go into "Compression mode." After a $100 tow and a $200 bill from the dealer, the issue is resolved. I'm not very trusting when it comes to vehicle repairs and most of the time we are at the mercy of what our repairs shops tell us......Is this really a thing, and has anyone else experienced this and if so, is there a procedure that can be done, i. e. depress the accelerator a couple of times to disengage this mode? Thanks guys. WBS

Never heard of this, but I'd think disconnecting the battery might help.

Yes it is a thing. If the accelerator is pressed down fully by the floor mat or by your foot, the truck will cut fuel and not start.
The procedure is to release the pedal.
I use this feature to prime the oil filter after an oil change. (I do pre-fill it as much as possible before installing)

Yeah, the procedure is to move the floor mat so it's not pushing in the gas pedal, and not use that shop for oil changes anymore. There should have been no reason the floor mat got moved on topmkf the gas pedal during an oil change.

Thanks........the gas pedal had been released and was at its normal resting position. Still would not start.... I'm trying to find out what procedure is necessary to disengage this mode in the event it accidentally happens again

It should start right up without having to do anything special.

Correct. As mentioned a couple times already, "clear flood mode" is exited by releasing the gas pedal.

You say it's still not starting. Is the engine at least cranking over?

I used this method to finish priming the oil filter last week after changing the oil. I found that the truck remained in the "compression test mode" even after releasing the accelerator pedal. I had to cycle the ignition to OFF and then it started normally the next key cycle. FWIW

Had to go and check, my rebel fired right up without having to cycle the ignition.

Its clear flood mode and all you need to do is take your foot off the accelerator pedal

yeah I tried that. it simply re-ran the starter for the 15 or however many seconds till the cycle stopped on its own. mind you I have the push button start in my rig. not sure if that make a difference or not. only after I cycled the ignition to off, and started the truck as normal would it fire up. just my observations.

I use clear flood often, it comes in handy doing relative and regular compression tests.

Yes....the engine would turn over and over but not start. The dealer was able to correct it at a cost of $200 and now it starts as it should. I'm just trying to figure out what to do in the event this may happen again. I appreciate all of the responses. I feel like I paid for an hour's work when the problem was corrected in less that 5 minutes.

You're probably not wrong about that but I don't think there's anything you can do about it.

The truck has a prime mode when you first turn on the key. Having the pedal to the floor tells the ECU to not spray fuel. Cycling the ignition to off then on should have allowed it to start. Does the floor mat have provisions to lock into the tabs into the floor?
