Price negotiated from MSRP

I bought my 2019 RAM 1500 Classic a couple weeks ago here in the Midwest.

MSRP: $47,465
Internet Price: $33,xxx
Price After EP Discount: $31,320 + TTL

I could've gotten another $1,000 had I financed through Chrysler Capital but the interest rates were too high. I ended up getting 34% off MSRP and got a good deal on my trade.

Between the 7/4 incentives and the recent changes I am seeing $6k for the Bighorns. Possibly $7k if you count the consumer bonus cash coupon that some dealers are mentioning. How much better does it get?

1) 2020 National Retail Consumer Cash 20CL1 - $2,000

2) California BC Independence Day Bonus Cash CACLX - $500

3) Chrysler Capital 2020 Bonus Cash 20CL5 - $500

4) National Retail Bonus Cash 20CLA1 - $2,000

5) Chrysler Capital Retail Bonus Cash 39CLM - $1,000

6) Consumer Bonus Cash Coupon 28HLS - $1000 ???

Total: $7,000?
True. 7K is pretty good. Bighorns always seem to have the best incentives. I've been shopping Limiteds and in May they were 6K in my area and now are just 2K. You would think the Limited's would be better since there is more profit baked into their MSRP's.

Current rebate on the Sierra 1500 is $6000, so invoice minus rebate would definitely get you to over a $9000 discount from MSRP.

Perhaps BeemerG is mistaken because I don't think any GMC dealer is giving you a $9500 discount and then an additional discount for the available rebates, a total of $15,500. That's just not happening on a Sierra 1500. Perhaps what they meant is $9500 off or the equivalent based on the rebates available in August or September.

I know a guy that just bought an AT4 Carbon, sticker was 64-66 K (i forget) He paid 49K , this was in DFW so it is happening

I got a crazy deal on a 2020 long horn, I built the spec of truck I liked, then emailed 85 dealers copyied all on the same email asking them all to bid on the cost. I got prices from 91k to 61k the same truck. You will get a lot of calls back trying to get you into the show rooms. But I explained in the email you are only calling back the 5 cheapest. I got insulted by a few saying they don't do business like this and others who would send a quote back with something missing of the qoute. But in the end got a crazy good price.

If you are building off of the actual web site, wouldn't the price essentially be the same for all the dealers?
Aren't you sort of buying directly from the manufacture and the dealer is just handling the processing?

Price: yes and no. Yes it's the same MSRP but you wouldn't already have any dealer discount to start with.

There is more you get from ordering from a dealership than the website. They have all the ins-and-outs of package/options requirements (some options are contingent on other selections) as well as supply availability (some options might not be currently available). Plus you get in writing the EXACT truck you are ordering.

If you order off the website anything not available or invalid won't be installed and you have little recourse other than refuse the vehicle.

My father ordered his last fall and ran into that. He had built it online but went through the dealership to order and found that the dealership had better information on combinations and option availability so he could guarantee the exact truck he ordered.

85 Dealers you say?

Thanks for posting this. I am seriously considering a 2019 Big Horn Classic. I can find 4-5 of them at Dealers within an hour of me. Most are $49,050 MSRP and advertised as $35k, but I believe that includes conditional rebates.
If the truck ends up being closer to $40k i think I’d rather do a Gen 5 Laramie.
i keep thinking if I just wait longer the deals will get better.

What is “EP” discount?
Any idea how much the dealer discounted your truck and how much was rebates/incentives from Chrysler?- Paul G.

When I spoke to the dealer on the phone, none of the rebates we're conditional. However, when I arrived and we went over the numbers, they said $1,000 was depending if I went with Chrysler Capital for financing. I left the dealer and let them sweat it out a bit, called, got an additional $500 coupon and $500 for my trade. Had I went with Chrysler Capital, I would've gotten that $1,000 too but they were about 1.5% higher than what I got.

EP Discount is employee pricing. My step dad is a Chrysler retiree so I get his discount which is about 5% below invoice before rebates.

I would call the dealers or preferably email and get it in writing saying that's their prices, non conditional before you go there. Usually the sales people you email aren't the ones you talk to on the floor and they end up honoring it, at least in my experience.

Paper work reads as follows:
Cash Price: $41,180.93
Less Other Down payment: 9486.93 (Rebates) ($7,250 rebate, $2,236.93 EP)
Unpaid Balance of Cash Price: $31,694

Nice. Yeah it’s good that I have 3 or 4 white Classics to pick from and a few gray. I think I’m going to wait until next month to see what sort of rebate changes there are. Not sure the classics will get better but 2019 Gen 5s might. I’m still trying to decide if a Gen5 is worth $10k more...
I hear you on the dealer stuff. My plan is to just email them and ask for best price like you said (pre rebates). I have financing in place too. 2.49%/65m, credit union already sent me a blank loan check to bring with me.
Then try to understand which rebates I can qualify for before I step foot anywhere.

Let me know what you end up with! Take your time making a decision though. I honestly had no interest in buying a truck but the price was too good to pass up and it's way more practical being a home owner than the German sports car I just got rid of. At first I didn't like the look of the newer RAM(s) but after having mine for a few weeks, the newer look has grown on me, oh well. I honestly don't think I could've justified spending the extra $10k on a newer gen though. I would look at the options and features on the new ones and compare it to the classic and see if you can/want to live without them.

Oh and nice rate, I ended up at 3.69/84 and Chrysler Capital was 5.19.

Yeah. I’m a bit all over the place with “wants”. I’m excited to have a truck though. It be my first one. Have a Miata for fun and I race it so could tow too. My desire would be a Gen5 Lev1 Laramie with some options, but MSRP ends up over $52k quickly, so even with a decent deal I’m looking at over $40k.
I like the looks of the classic too, so not too picky. And a Big Horn Classic has everything I would need in a truck. It’s just a bit frustrating because I know folks were paying mid $30k a year ago for them.
At some point I’ll just get tired of all this. I’m saving what the truck payment would be right now for a bit to see how it feels. When I’m finally in more of a need (before winter) I’ll either scoop up a left over (Classic or Gen 5), or just throw my hands up and order something from that large dealer in DC probably. The dealerships up here are so annoying even when trying to do things via email. - Paul G.

I am new to trucks. Is this a good deal for a used 2019 big horn with level 2 package? It' was a rental car and there is not much history information on its carfax (https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?vin=1c6rreft1kn851815&partner=caa_0). The listed price is $30998.
I’m no expert and new too. You can look up the window sticker by vin here at https://windowstickerlookup.com/
MSRP was like $45k and conservative guess is that truck could be purchased new for like 10-15% below MSRP, so $38k-$40k new. But check kbb and Edmunds values online.
It has 20k miles now so my opinion is that’s a bit overpriced.

Not a good deal simply because of the location of the dealer. Anything they sell will be ~10-15% more than elsewhere. Get out of Plano/Frisco. https://www.meadorauto.com/new-vehicles/ram-1500/

On Friday I got a 2020 Ram 1500 Longhorn, MSRP of $64,955. I paid $54,500 after at least an hour of haggling. I was trying to get to $54k and then $8k for my trade-in, but ended up with $54.5k and $7k for the trade. The $7k was within range on KBB. I feel pretty good overall about the deal and I love the truck so far.

It's not what they were offering last year at this time or even a few months ago, but not too far off.

For anyone wondering, I was told today twice (from diff dealers) that orders for a 2020 model can be placed through August 2020. I think I’m going to roll dice and order and hope for decent incentives when I pick up.
The expected wait is 1.5-2 months. Right now to order a 2020 the way I want with no rebate money is about the same cost as left over 2019s I find that aren’t exactly configured the way I like (less stuff). - Paul G.

I finally gave up on getting a local deal on a leftover 2019 truck and ordered from Carl at Criswell Ram. Emailed with the other dealer (Koons) but they dropped their discount to 6% off invoice and have an $800 fee which works out to be 1/2 the savings that Carl offered in my case with a higher MSRP.

Carl did 13% off MSRP, $300 fee, and then take any incentives (-$2500 for me right now in NH). If incentives get better when I pick it up the truck gets cheaper. Plus I can sign up for “tread lightly.org”, pay a small membership fee, bring proof and get another 1% off which is $570.

MSRP on my truck is $57,190. With all mentioned above my OTD will be $46,786 (or less if rebates increase):

MSRP: $58035
Criswell discount: -$7545
Tread lightly.org: -580 +$100 mem fee
Sale Price: $49,910
My Rebate as of 6/2020: -$1000 (20CL1) & -$1500 (20CLA1)
Total price: $47,410

That’s 18% and good enough for me. I’m pretty excited. Now I can just enjoy my Miata while I wait for the truck to show up. Hoping it arrives for my 45th birthday in mid September.

Ordered:
2020 1500 Laramie CC / SB, 4WD
Flame Red
5.7L
5-seat buckets with console
Rear wheel liners
Anti-spin diff
33 gallon tank
Dual Pane sunroof
20x9 premium wheels
Laramie Level 1 group
Trailer brake
Bed Utility Group
