Price negotiated from MSRP

Honestly if you love the truck, i'd meet them in the middle, say 42500 - 43000.... The difference overall is pretty neglible on our side, but it could mean the diff between a deal for them that nets 1000 profit or loses them 500 bucks.... On their side the difference of $1500 bucks is sink or swim...

If you DON'T love the truck, i wouldn't take the deal EVEN if they come down some more...

Just my thoughts, good luck : )

(and keep in mind, THIS advice is coming from someone who's mentality at a dealership is, "no one is leaving here alive if i don't get my price!!"... lol)
Just curious about your last statement. Are you in the camp that new car prices will fall further in June/July? Or is there some other reason?

Personally, i think there's been a little bit of a shift and dealers are not "letting go of their inventory" as easily as they usually do, due to production being so precarious right now...

i just mean if you "settle on a truck you DON'T want just because its at a price you DO want" it will come back to haunt you...

On the other hand, if you love the truck, you don't want to be "kicking yourself for the one that got away" just over a measly 12-15 bucks a month higher note....
 
In a normal economy I wouldn't settle for anything less 25% off of MSRP including the dealer fees. You just need another $1300 off and that would be 25%. If you really want the truck ask for an additional $2k discount and you would have some room to negotiate. That being said, you asked earlier if you should wait a month or two. I say yes. Once the factory resumes production FCA and the dealers will be under more pressure to move inventory. I would think the factory incentives and dealer discounts will only get better.

I’m a first time Truck buyer. Hot damn that’s a crazy discount. I’m looking at a Longhorn, and your saying I should be asking for numbers that make out at 25% off msrp?

At that price I’d be ready to rock now!

Legacy Dodge. Fort McMurray.

This was last yest when the rebates were pretty high. Combined with Chrysler Advantage it was a smoking deal.

I can say that I had heard some pretty negative things before going there but Tim and Erik took really good care of me. Cant complain. No ********

Ive seen a lot about Craig at Koons and plan to contact him. the best deal for me personally is 0% for 84. If they can lock in rebates unless they are better when truck comes in. will FCA not allow them to lock in 0 for 84?

No rebates on the 0% deal, only dealer discount.

Thanks, what Im asking is if you dont take the 0% dealers are willing to lock in the rebates on an order. I do not want the rebates and prefer to take the 0 for 84. Why will they not lock that in for me

Call and ask is the obvious answer. ‍♂ I doubt there is any guarantee that the Chrysler Capital financing offer will be the same in a few months. On the rebate side of things I believe Ram is unlike the others & only offers those at the time of delivery. Though I've read in this post it's either/or.

Ok thanks, dealers have told me they cant lock in the 0%. They just also told me they couldn't lock in rebates if i dint do 0%, which was confusing after reading many of these posts that say they do. thanks for your help

An truck that is "Sold Order Protected" has the current rebates locked in. Not sure why the dealer is telling that story.
My understanding is that the 0% is exclusive, meaning you can't lock in the rebates when electing the financing incentive.

Hey yeah that’s right. I’m not wanting the rebates. I just want to lock in the 0%

Its always the supply/demand rule.
Since no new trucks are being built and people still buying the supply is dwindling.
As a result, there is no need to give discounts.
Soon, the number of available trucks will be very very limited and wouldn't be surprised if dealers stick with MSRP and no discounts.

Once production picks back up, supply should increase and since a large majority of people will be recouping from the lack of income the supply will continue to increase and manufacturers will need to recoup their losses by giving discounts.

That is my 2 cents and worth every penny.
 
Manufactures charge dealers 2% on every truck at the end of the month. Big incentive not to lose a sale.

American MSRP's are just a marketing game. Look into trade-in values to find out how much the trucks are really worth.

I like my Ram, but I would say a more accurate "MSRP" is around 20% off for a middle of the road model.

If you're looking at a 70k Ram, maybe closer to 25% or even 30%.

It's no secret trucks are profit machines for manufacturers. The dealer will make it seem like they are losing money selling you the truck at that discount. It's all just a game to make you feel like you won.

It’s a decent price if that’s including all dealer fees or add ons. You may find Limiteds at $10-11k off dealer discounts elsewhere, but stock is pretty low at dealers I’ve seen better pricing at right now, so it may be challenging to find what you’re looking for on a lot at a better price.

In all honesty, I’d push for better dealer discount, but unless you have a better offer in hand from elsewhere, they’re not likely to bite on it.

What region are you in? That definitely affects dealer discount.
