Power Running Board Issue

I noticed a strange issue while cleaning my truck the other day as was wondering if anyone else has experienced the same. Some of the brackets that attach the power running board to the truck have lost their black paint and are now gray which is the underlying surface color. It’s bizarre as the paint was never peeling or chipping off. It literally looks like it just wore off over time. The brackets on the driver side are still black but both passenger side brackets are gray (one worse than the other). I emailed my dealership Service Manager and I am waiting to see what he says. It can’t be normal and is most likely the result of poor prep work before painting.
