Poor gas mileage

i know that at least in my state they go to a different gasoline with more MTBE in the colder months and i definitely think that has something to do with it..

Am I missing something? I get very good mileage except when I tow my Camper if I am mostly hwy Im getting 22 combined 18-19 city hwy and towing about 8-10 HWY 5.7 Non Etorque

Same and I just had the plugs changed. I'm getting at Least 8 mpg less mpg than I was this summer. I cannot believe the winter fuel mix would make this big of a difference nor 150 lbs of sand bags in my bed.

The biggest hit to fuel economy is due to colder temperatures. Winter fuel is also a contributor, but both combined should not reduce your MPG's by that much.

My 23' Ltd 3.92 using the same station 89 has dropped appx 1 mpg with the winter mix, that's all.
20.x down to 19.x. That's mostly (70/30 mix) state highways going under 60, (not interstate driving), same routes, same loads etc. I will check on the interstate this next week after a 10 hour RT.

22inch rims and ****ty tires dont help.

People thinking 3:21 is good for a truck???
It is once your doing 80MPH on the highway, but getting there will be better with 3:92.

My mileage increase a lot just by going to a good highway tire.
The fact that it is the best rated tire for rain, and no road noise it might be worth a look???
My Biased opinion.

My 2019 Ltd 4x with 3.21's got on average 1.5-2 mpg's higher than my current 3.92. Same roads/loads and speeds. The hemi and 8 speed never were wanting with the 3.21, I just found a 3.92. I'm still undecided as to which would be better since I don't tow or live in the mountains. 3.55 would probably be ideal...

I've seen reports of others getting poor gas mileage in their 5th Generation Rams. Mine is horrible. Has anyone else gotten a dealer to figure out what's wrong with this truck?
I've had my truck in the shop twice now for this issue. The Ram technicians are not able to find anything wrong with the truck.

It is a 2019 ram 1500 limited 4x4 crew cab with eTorque engine. Fuel economy is supposed to be 17 city, 22 highway.
I have the active suspension, and every option imaginable. 12" touch screen (which I would not recommend after living with it).
I only get 12-13 mpg city and 15-16mpg highway.
I have the 3.92 rear axle with anti-spin diff.
Eco mode almost never turns on in this new truck.
I have no performance options other than what the truck came with.
I have 12,500 miles on it now.

My 2016 ram quad cab with 5.7 hemi 4x4 got 20mpg or better consistently on the highway thanks to the eco mode.
I should be getting at least within 1 to 2 mpg of what is stated. My 2016 truck promised 20mpg and I got better.
I drive conservatively. I drive mostly highway. I don't idle the truck.
I thought the eTorque would be the way to go. I would not recommend it.
I've owned 4 of these trucks, each one better than the last, until this latest one.

I was given a loaner 2019 Ram 1500 with the Hemi, crew cab, same as my truck, but no eTorque option. I towed a trailer with that loaner truck for 250 miles and averaged 19.5mpg in tow/haul mode. It was the same year as mine 4x4 with the crew cab and hemi, and it got much better gas mileage. The only difference is mine has the eTorque, and this loaner did not. I can't get gas mileage that good in my truck, when it's empty and riding steady at 65mph on the highway. When I tow, I get 12 on the highway.

Something is wrong with my truck that is not wrong with all of them. Has anyone else experienced this and have you gotten it properly fixed? I'm at the point where I'm fighting with my dealer and I need to tell him what it is. He has put the OBD tester on it and says it has no codes.
Don’t feel bad, my 2025 limited isn’t doing much better than that according to the computer. I haven’t hand calced. It yet.

The problem is the Rams are really heavy.
If you went to the track the 3:92 would kill the 3:21 in the 1/4 mile.(My Thoughts).
But I would put money on it.

Anyone with the factory 22's on a limited go from the stock 285/45/22 to a 305/45/22, if so what hit did you take on MPGs?

Our truck only 13,635 Miles only getting about 10.5-12 around town better if we take a trip.

I assume a lot of stop and go traffic? And are you a bit hard on the throttle?

With stop/go traffic in DFW my limited eTorque can still get 16-17 MPG

Not necessarily. In 2019 TruckTrend did a head to head between a Rebel with 3.92's and a Laramie Longhorn with 3.21's. The Longhorn with the 3.21's was quicker 0-60 and in the 1/4 mile. With the 8 speed transmission, there is more than enough gears to put the truck in optimal position to perform well.

I take TruckTrend/MotorTrend article with a grain of salt. I've actually participated in a TruckTrend "shootout" for Dakota R/Ts. Weather the day we raced was upper 90s on an unprepared track. Everyone's times were .5-1 second off their normal times. When the article came out, they compared the Dakota R/T to the Ford Lighting, using numbers from a test they did earlier in year in cooler weather on a prepped track and talked about how the Lightings were so much better.

They never really do apples to apples comparisons. Usually don't use the same drivers. They are just the editors driving. Way too many variables involved. Shoot, my Built to Serve, with 3.92 gears, ran faster than both the Rams they tested in 98 degrees temps.

Not hard on the throttle most of the time.

My truck came with 3.21 but it's not bad. Not a race truck so i'm ok with it. My first car 56 Chevy sedan deliver I ran 4.56 now that's low.

I can confirm that 3.55's are ideal, but only when combined with the TRX package. Oddly enough, my mileage did not increase from my 3.92 equipped Laramie. 😵‍💫

I had 305/40/22s on my '19 Limited and now on my '25 Limited Night and couldn't tell any difference in mpg.
