POLL: Hemi vs. Hurricane - your preference

If I were able to choose either the Hemi or the Hurricane (HO or SO) in a new Ram, I would choose...

  • Hemi, because it’s a proven engine.

  • Hemi, because the engine sound is more appealing.

  • Hemi, because it’s a more robust engine.

  • Hemi, because I don’t have to use premium gas.

  • Hurricane, because it’s got better acceleration (horsepower).

  • Hurricane, because it’s a more modern design.

  • Hurricane, because it’s got better emissions vs. power output.

  • Hurricane, because it’s probably going to be more reliable than the old Hemi design.

Here's the poll. Thank you to those who constructively gave me feedback on the selections.

Hahaha...it says it will accept multiple votes, but it won't take more than two. So I'll paste my response here.

Didn't towing and payload capacity go down with the 2025 models?

A little. A 2024 with 5.7 is listed with max towing of 12,750 and 2,300 max cargo capacity. The standard Hurricane is listed at 11,570 max towing and 1,980 cargo cargo. The high output is rated lower than the standard Hurricane.

Even so, if towing more than a 4000 - 5000 lb load a 1500 pickup is not the best choice anyway regardless of engine.

Appreciate the unsolicited advice. Lets just say we agree to disagree on that. I might agree when you get near the max rating, but 4000 - 5000 lbs is light even for a 1500.

I never said a 1500 couldn't pull a load over 5000 lbs, but if you are routinely pulling a load more than that a 2500 is a better choice regardless of your agreement.

Lot of factors go into it including the type of trailer and the terrain but I would say anything over 6-7K I would get a 2500 or bigger for towing on a regular basis. It your towing 10,000 lbs. across town, then shouldn't be an issue.

No one has chosen the "Hemi because it's a more robust engine" yet?

I chose "Hemi because it sounds better", that was the only thing I checked off that I was truly sure about.

To be honest, I can't think of a scenario where a 2500 isn't always a better choice for towing regularly. Overkill for anything well within the range of a half-ton but probably a better choice regardless. But that wasn't what you said in your initial statement. It's amazing how one word ("routinely") can change the context of a statement.

I would be interested in the Hurricane if they can make sound good, so far it sounds like poo.

Poll is rigged. Can only select 2 hemi options. 🤦‍♂️

I'd choose the first 3 options if I can, premium gas option is silly because they all "need" it.

Im not trying to be a jerk, but anyone who votes for the Hurricane, when they dont own one, is suspect.
I hope not, but it could end up being the worst engine ever produced. Full of issues
