Hi,
Has anyone in the Pittsburgh, PA area recently ordered a 2022 Ram? I would like to order a 2022 Limited Longhorn. Several of the dealers I have inquired with in the Pittsburgh area are stating that my cost would be List Price / MSRP minus any Ram discounts at time of delivery. Another words, no dealer-specific discounts or incentives. I thoroughly understand the state of the Auto market in terms of supply and demand and the extra strain on manufacturers due to microchip shortage, general supply-chain issues, and rising costs of supplies such as steel and plastics. However, are dealers in the Pittsburgh area not providing any "dealer" discounts (unrelated to Ram discounts/rebates) off of the purchase of a special order 2022 Ram?

Find a different dealer. A custom order is NO skin off their back. They still make a very fair margin @ "cost".

Thanks for your reply. I have tried 5 dealers in the Pittsburgh area and all are stating the same thing "list price". This is why I have posted to the forum, because I am wondering if it is just me or is everyone in the Pittsburgh area experiencing this?

Probably the same for everyone, dealer discounts have been not great to non existent for a while now with the shortages going on. Back in March I ordered my truck through Mark Dodge in LA which is 1500 miles away from me. Closest dealer I could find that was worth working with.

Best of luck

Thank you for the suggestions. Yes, i have tried both. An unfortunately, many folks are not participating in the Costco program any more. In fact, there are no Pittsburgh Area dealers that participate in the Costco program any more.

The primary reason i posted my question is to confirm that this is the current state of the market for Rams in the Pittsburgh area or not. I know that in Virginia, some dealers have a little room for a discount, but it seems that in the Pittsburgh area, they are all selling at list. That is fine, i am just wondering if that is across the board with all folks trying to order a new 2022 ram in the pittsburgh area.

Maybe broaden your search radius a bit if you can. Maybe some ok deals a bit farther away.

Not sure about a special order, but I seen new 2021 around Iowa for 3,000-5,000 off msrp. Do a search on autotrader, you might even find what you want. It may be 500 miles away or more, but for the right deal it might be worth it. I drove 1004 miles each way in a weekend to get my 19 for big big savings! Good luck👍🏻

Right now here in the philly/jersey area, when ordering, it's just msrp, until it's delivered. Right now, it's not alot to take off of msrp.

Unless you are part of an affiliate (like access fund/tread lightly...depending on dealer) MSRP is the starting price, all due to the chip shortage and extremely low inventory.

I used my quote from Mark Dodge as a bargaining chip against local dealers. I hit several dealers in the area and none would budge on their prices. I actually ended up ordering from a dealership outside Philly, Chapman CDJR (Tom Borah, the owner is who I worked with entirely through e-mail).

They are doing 4% below invoice, which is slightly less than Mark Dodge, but I end up getting a better deal there once you factor in the shipping cost for MD. I can do a one way flight and drive it back for pretty cheap (and give do a thorough inspection before taking ownership).

Anyway here’s his email if you are interested:

Need to cast the net wider than just the 412 area code. I've never been impressed with the dealerships there (grew up in that area) when it comes great deals. I have resigned myself to just travelling to the deal nowadays when car shopping. My last 4 purchases have all been out of state (GMC, Ford, and Ram), and I'm averaging around 80 miles away to get them. I do all of my dealing online, and the savings have been considerable.

Buy from mark dodge. I am from Pittsburgh and ordered from mark dodge, saving 11k off a 73k msrp limited longhorn. This does not include my other discouts at the time of delivery. I will probably get it delivered to my door from there. The extra cost for delivery is not a big deal when saving so much..jim shorky and other dealer can not and will not give a below employee pricing
Talk to Sandi at mark dodge ! I can get you her number if u want. It dont cost anything to get a price from them

They are my local dealer. Stopped in yesterday to look at a Jeep Grand Cherokee L for my wife. They are MSRP + on everything in stock. Orders are at MSRP. If you got 4% below invoice, I don't know how...congrats! They wouldn't even budge on the Rebel that I ordered this year...so, I ended up going with Mark Dodge and will most likely order the Jeep there if she decides she wants to go with that.

I sent him my POC from MD when asking about the best offer he could do. I actually found their info on a recent post in the “How to get the best deal” thread, otherwise I would have just done MD.

Took me 23 dealers to find one that was doing less than MSRP for an HD, and it's out of state.

Don't Quit

Don't Quit
by Edgar A. Guest

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit -
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is ***** with its twists and turns.
As everyone of us sometimes learns.
And many a fellow turns about when he
Might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than it seems
To a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up when he
Might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And when you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst,
You must not quit.

Another Mark Dodge order here. There are several options for you when it comes to volume dealers. If you're best option locally is MSRP, run. You can find volume dealers in NC, GA, LA, FL, ID just to name a few. If you're going the Longhorn route, there's enough buffer in there for these volume dealers to give you at least 3% off. For comparison, my Limited's MSRP is $72,980 and my price is $63,595. At that spread, you have plenty of buffer for shipping or if you're feeling froggy, fly in and drive back.
