Looks really nice

Thank you!!! Just added PPF to the badge and skid plate. Curious to see how it holds up. The skid plate cost $160 to add. See if it keeps the paint looking decent.

do you have to scruff up the plate some for the paint to adhere?

My paint guy didn’t have to scuff anything for it to adhere. I had to call and ask him to make sure.

I went a little different with my skid plate. I painted it gunmetal metallic with a glossy clearcoat so it would have some contrast to the matte black around it. In this picture it looks lighter than it is because of the reflection of the concrete in the clear coat. I painted the tow hooks with a color that matches the red interior trim, also with glossy clear coat. The Ram lettering I painted the same red, then masked off the beveled edges and painted the inside with the gunmetal metallic and cleared that with gloss as well.

Nice, I’d be interested in seeing some of that. I was thinking after seeing all these blacked out ones now that it’s a bit too much. Something like this might be more up my alley, to still give it the contrast. I just think it’s too bright silver now.

I literally just spray painted mine. Give me **** if you want, but it took 5 mins and cost $10. Its actually held up decent for 7 months so far.

No **** from me. I used spray paint too. All Duplicolor except for the clear. I use SprayMax 2K Glamour Clear. It's a two-part clear coat that you activate in the spray can when you are ready to use it so it hardens like automotive clear.

No advantage at all. When I had mine done my buddy did it and tapped it all off. He looked at removal but that included taking the bumper off to get to the skid plate. You cannot tell it wasn’t removed and just painted over with three coats while in place. JMHO

Hey just wondering what you used to paint it is that bed liner? It looks nice and smooth and perfect match to the bumpers.

Has anybody painted the front skid plate? what kind of paint are you using???
I plasti dipped mine just to get a feel for it, and I like it a lot. Also I think it makes a big difference adding an accent color on the hooks and outer grill letter edges.

I had mine done with Rhino Lining. They wouldn't consider taping off for fear of overspray, so they removed the skid plate and sprayed for $250. I'm very pleased with the result.

I went in intended on removing mine, but I realized pretty quick it is WAY easier to just tape it off.
This was my same philosophy. I got about 1/4 of the way through removing the 9000 nuts and bolts holding it on and said F it I'll just tape it.

Lol yep. I removed most of the top row before realizing that wasn’t a good idea.
