One month, 2200 miles ...

So it's been about a month and I have just over 2200 miles on the truck. All was good and I was very happy with the truck until 4 days ago.

I started to hear a clunk when starting. No pattern, completely random. Forum search left me disappointed as it's been an ongoing issue for many with no real fix or cause found.

I also started to hear a clunk when turning. Forum search says to take it in and if they can replicate it they can fix it. Ok good, easy peasy.

Today I started to get a "service park brake" message. Also all day long today the uConnect has been ****ing up, dropping calls, volume changes, magically dimming. So over the course of 4 days four new problems crop up out of the blue.

WTF Ram.

My job is extremely unpredictable and while I do technically have Tuesday off, I might not be able to take it in, let alone take it in and leave it all day.

I took it in to the local dealer and of course they couldn't replicate the issues at all. They had it for 4 hours and said "bring it back if it happens again". Guess what? It happened again, at least the clunk upon starting has. I'll try leaving it again tomorrow for awhile but have no hope they'll even experience it first hand.

I got a similar response from a dealer once when I dropped off a Grand Cherokee. I told them to keep the car until they could replicate the issue and refused to pick it up. Wouldn't you know it, they were then able to replicate/resolve the issue. I'm just not into wasting time making an appointment, have techs accomplish zero and pick up just so that I can make another appointment for the same issue.

Surprising how they could replicate it when you forced them to keep the vehicle. That's a good strategy. I'll probably try that the next time too.

My 2015 Grand Cherokee with the Hemi also had the startup clunk. I wrote it off as just a normal "thing" they do. My RAM occasionally does it as well.

As to the clunk while turning, mine did that too and it was the passenger side sway bar end link, the upper part that attaches to the frame. It had a good turn and a half before it was even snug. Tightened it down and the sound is all gone.

Hmmm easy enough to check, I'll do that on Tuesday :)

Alrighty folks an update on the sway bar link replacements :)

It's been 2400 miles since I've had my sway bar links replaced at my crappy local dealer. So far so good! No clunks. I wanted to wait until I drove the same amount of miles to see if it would be a repeat issue, thankfully it's not :)

Now all I have to do is find someone to figure out what the start up clunk is :D

Curious if you ever got a resolution on the "service park brake" message? I've had mine into the dealer twice this week. They replace the switch both times, but the problem still exists. They said I need to leave it there for 2 or 3 days to check all the wiring.

Thanks!

Hi brettknudson,

We're sorry to hear you're continuing to experience this concern. Is there a case on the customer care side? Send me a direct message as I'd be glad to create one and escalate to a case specialist.

I took it in and they couldn't replicate the issue. I've seen it twice since then. I'm going to try going to a different dealer next time I have the time :D
