OBD-2 Port

I understand I need a "bypass" OBD port in order to use Allfa. I have a donor harness. Can I take the OBD port from that harness and install in my truck? What, actually do I need to bypass? Anyone have a wiring diagram to connect the extra "bypassed" port to my truck?

You need a bypass cable. Do a search and you will find many threads already with the information.

You don't bypass your ODB port.
You bypass your security gateway.

If you attach a bypass module to your security gateway you can just use your regular ODB port (and leave the bypass plugged in underneath)

Thanks. All the videos I saw just showed plugging a cable with a male and female OBD connector into the truck's OBD port. I couldn't understand how this was bypassing anything. Now, I see there's also a CANBUS connector on the bypass cable. So, I guess this allows Alfa, or other software, to communicate with the truck directly through the bus (bypassing the security gateway, as you said) ? Still curious why the bypass cable still connects to the truck's OBD port if the communication is through the bus.

There are some plugs to the left of the port against the frame

You still need the power from OBD connector.

And if you buy the right SGW bypass cable then you just plug into that cable directly and won't use factory OBD port.

Or buy a she bypass module that will plug into the SGW connectors and use factory OBD2 port. The TazerDT acts as a SGW bypass.

Those plugs also don't look like it fits a 1500.
Also why is there a female and male plug, waste of plastic imo.

There is no reason to get extra cables or ports installed just to simply bypass, it's a wire to wire conversion.

I don’t think that’s rightTo the left of the ODB port and a little bit up in the dash are the 2 connectors you need to unplug and plug into the bypass. It isn't too hard to find. I can pull them out without having to look at them now. Just reach up under and pull them out.

And I agree with you that there are more simple options. I was just saying that there are some that plug in the factory OBD pirt
