No CD player in my 2020 1500

Interesting as I test drove two 2020 Limiteds last Saturday and both had a CD player.

Hey man I'm sorry to have gotten your hopes up. When I went to test drive I told the salesman I wanted to test drive a 2020 Limited 4x4 EcoDiesel w/ 22s and 3.92s and a 2020 Limited 4x4 eTorque w/ 22s and 3.92s. The EcoDiesel was a 2020 but the eTorque he had me drive after looking at their website just now was a 2019 which I didn't realize. I remember commenting to him "oh wow it has a CD player?" which I thought was strange but looking at their inventory (volume dealer), all the 2020 Limiteds DO NOT have the CD player (verified by pictures of each vehicle on their site). The 2019 Limiteds all have it. Looks like FCA slyly dropped the CD players without dropping the price so that's what I find most annoying. I agree they probably had a large volume of CD players they wanted to get rid of so they put them in 2019s until their supply was exhausted but it would be nice to find out from @RamCares or FCA what's up with that.

Pull trim from both sides of center console. The thin strips. Theres 2 10mm bolts there. Then take out the 4 squares at each corner of the center console and remove those four 10mm bolts. Now you can slide the whole console back a foot easy. Cd player or cubby is two screws right on top. Its a 5 minute job.

So I moved back the console which was much easier than I expected but couldn’t figure out how to remove the damn CD player. It looked like it was just 2 screws securing it but it was still in there solid after I removed them and I didn’t want to break anything.

Just pull it forward. it comes out like you eject a cd.

I don’t think so. The actual CD player is a large metal box that Is much bigger than the small visible cutout where you insert the cd’s. I’ll take pics tomorrow and post them here and see if anyone has removed it before.

Ok I’ll take a look again in the morning, it was getting dark out and the lights in my garage aren’t very bright. The mounting points are different than the ones pictured in that link though. I only found 2 screws on the top toward the back of the radio.

finally got it out. Those screws on the sides were a real pita unless you have tiny hands. PM me and we can figure out how we’re going to do the trade.

Curious to see how that swap goes. I’m really wanting to know if the 2020 12” Uconnect display simply recognizes the new CD player, or if there’s is any need for the dealer to enable it.

If it’s plug and play, I’d happily go thru the effort of swapping someone my cubby for a CD player! I’ll cover shipping!

I also ordered the top level package, all the bells and whistles. However, it seems the 2020 doesn’t automatically come with a CD player. Not sure if it’s even an option. When I call my dealer I’ll ask if they even offer it in the 2020.

I realize it’s old technology but I still have some I listen to and have sermons from a favorite pastor I recently purchased and it came with all CDs. I’ll rip them onto a thumb drive and listen to them that way.

I was pissed (not pizzed) because I would assume if something that came by default in the 2019 didn’t come in the 2020 my dealer would have said something. I’ll post a photo of the storage that took its place.

You give dealers too much credit for knowing everything about their product. I would conservatively say that 50% of them don’t even know all the trim levels available or what a Hemi engine even is.
I negotiated a deal on my Limited via online/phone over a few days only to be told by the sales manager that the truck had been sold 4 days prior.

Luckily they had the exact twin truck for sale (VIN was even one number up From the one I thought I’d made a deal on: -49 —->-50).

Lots of funny comments in this thread, but I guarantee you that I can pop a CD into a slot faster than you can connect a USB cable, connect to UConnect, navigate phone apps/menus to find your music, etc.
