New to me 2020 Sport wont start

I have had my truck for about a month. Everything has been great. No issues whatsoever.

Drove it yesterday morning and parked it in my driveway. Went out a couple hours later to leave and no start. I pushed the button and just ONE single CLICK. Everything inside (electronics) is working properly. I plugged in my OBDII and it is not showing any codes.

83k on the truck, battery date of manufacture shows 07/2022.

Based on what I have been able to find online and in these forums, it is most likely the battery, starter, or starter relay. I started with the easiest and changed the relay....no change. I took the battery to get it checked. Showed to be a "good battery" at 12.2V. This is a little low, but still should be enough to fire it up. I am having my son-in-law change the starter this afternoon. I am trying to avoid the tow and trip to the shop.

Without going down the rabbit hole of all the obscure things it could be, am I missing any more common causes here? Both keys are working, so its not the RF hub.

Should I change out the battery while I am at it? I have a connection that can get a battery for about $125.

Sounds like the battery is the issue. Push to start vehicles won't even attempt to start is the battery is too low. Easiest way to know is to get a jump. If it starts, then you know it's the battery.

That would be my second step after making sure the terminals and ground connections were clean.

Bingo. I tried jumping it, but did not leave it connected long enough apparently. I hooked up a jump box and it fired right up. Grabbing a battery this afternoon after work.

I would upgrade to a H8 over the H7. Also you need the bigger battery blanket, or makes yours fit,

I do not have a battery blanket.

Should I get one? I am not familiar with these.

I'm not sure the good/bad about them to be honest. In the winter time it's supposed to help the battery not get as cold for better cold starts... does it? I don't know. I'd say hit google and see what the experts say. I've never removed one, unless it was dirty or worn bad.

I will. Given that this was a Canadian sold "Sport" trim level... I would think that it would have come with all the cold weather goodies. The spec sheet says that it has an engine block heater, but I have yet to find the plug.

Yeah I would think Canadian would have it. Unless previous owner replaced battery to H8 and didn't want to buy the bigger blanket? I'm not sure where the plug would be.

So... Update.

I replaced the battery. Everything was great for 2 days. We went up north camping (2 hours away). I started it this morning to drive to the showers. No problem. Came out of the shower..... CLICK.... No start.

WHAT THE EVER LOVING HELL IS GOING ON HERE.

Starter? Alternator? Something that's draining my battery somewhere?

I did install a tailgate light bar last week. That's the only thing I can think that may be messing it up, but those are LED lights that don't draw anything for power.

Wonder if you have a loose wire/ corrosion? Also make sure all fuses are seated. I've heard Mopar is good for not fully seating the fuses.

I have a 2022 Sport and went through same exact thing. All the troushooting possible and then a little bit in denial that this could be happening to a relatively new truck. (dealt with intermittent starting for 4 months) Even took it to alarm place to remove aftermarket kill switch set up, but not that either. I found a MOPAR oem starter on ebay and got it swapped out and that fixed everything. Life is good now!! I will never take my truck starting for granted EVER.

Did you ever figured out what it was I changed my starter on my 2021 and only after a week it went bad

Its your starter. I had the EXACT same problems. Did the old hammer tap and sure enough, started right up, which in my old-school brain is the 100% guarantee that the starter is bad. Replaced, no problems since.
