New RAM 1500 Hemi 5.7 only getting 9-10 mpg!

On my 3rd Laramie 5.7 1500 4wd. 321, now with 18,000mi, and to my surprise the computer indicates 21.1 overall mostly highway since new. I carry about 600 pounds of equipment too.

I know guys say the computer reads maybe 1 mpg high, but still.

I am doing much better this tank. I don't know what happened before I bought my truck. So I did the following
1. Put a can of seafoam in the tank when I filled up
2. Cleared the trip counter several times
3. Drove gingerly
4. Rode more interstate trips
5. 89 octane
6. Don't run truck unless I am going somewhere. Avoid idle time

So far I am 13.3 mpg. Huge improvement for me.

I know that this is an old thread --
I had a Laramie 5.7 hemi from 2019 - 2024. Always used 91 (I know this is mostly irrelevant).
Worst MPG - Purely city driving was around 14
HWY - depending on speed was 19 - 21
Towing a 6K trailer at avg speed of 70mph was around 12 MPG. This is going from Flagstaff AZ to Kanab UT.
