I have been reading this forum for a couple of months now following the new Ram 1500. I previously owned a 1994 Toyota Pickup that I put 180,000 miles on. I currently own a 2010 Toyota Tacoma double cab with 166,000 miles, that I drove new off the lot. The space is getting tight in the back seat with two car seats, especially when hauling my wife and two boys around. I need something bigger. Toyota is not keeping up well in the MPG wars in the larger trucks. So, it is time to move on to a different brand.
I was torn between the F150 and Ram 1500. I am trying to keep my wants simple, because I have to put those boys through college one day. If the body style of the 1500 had not changed this year, I would have probably gone down the path of the F150. I like the new body style of the 1500 and I am amazed by the amount of space in the back seat of the crew cab. That locked it in for me; I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of the V6 1500's, so I can pick one up (I drive 100 miles a day on the highway and need the, hopefully, better mpg). The Ram dealers around me tell me that those should be arriving soon. I appreciate the review of the V6 with Etorque recently posted on this site.
I decided to go ahead and become a member here, because the posts here seem to be sensible, respectful, and helpful.
Thanks.
