Navigation sucks

Just a lil rant. I have a 21 BTS with the 12" screen. I let my free trial of the unconnect services expire earlier this year because the few times i used the nav it sucked and I personally didn't/don't think it's worth the money and today confirmed my decision.
Fast forward to this morning.
I had to head out of state so I decided to plug the address into the monster screen and give it another whirl. It went good up until it said to get off the exit and to make a "sharp left turn at end of ramp". The exit put me facing west on a two lane divided road where I'm supposed to make that "sharp left turn" which is literally an illegal u-turn to head back east. Reluctantly but safely I made the u-turn but I look over and see the previous exit that I passed on the highway that would've put me in the right direction without making the illegal u-turn lol. So basically it had me get off at exit 5B heading west and said to make an illegal u-turn to head east instead of having me get off at exit 5A heading in the correct direction in the first place lol.

The factory nav sucks. Second day I owned my truck I started using Waze on CarPlay. Haven’t looked back since.

Exactly. I've never used the factory nav and am not sure why anyone would.

I suspect that the maps in your truck are outdated. Did this interchange look new-ish?

If you had a 2022, I’d point you to a way to update your maps for free. But I don’t know how it would be done with UC4.

That said, I use Waze. Factory nav sucks, regardless of make/model.

Your 2021 truck probably has 2019 or 2020 maps in it. My 2020 has 2018 maps in it. They want $100+ for an "update" when I can plug my phone in to use Google for free.

Yes - it sucks. Puts me on local roads instead of highway, all the correct boxes are checked. Not happy for $800.

I suspect that the maps in your truck are outdated. Did this interchange look new-ish?

If you had a 2022, I’d point you to a way to update your maps for free. But I don’t know how it would be done with UC4.

That said, I use Waze. Factory nav sucks, regardless of make/model.

The intersection is definitely not new.

99% of the time I use Google maps. I barely use Waze. Has the Waze app been working better since Google took it over? Google did merge the product teams together only last month.

Google Maps and Waze are both great, but the factory NAV isn't.

To the OP, plug in your phone and use either Google Maps or Waze and be happy. Never use that factory NAV again. I rather use a paper map than the OEM NAV again.

I'm the oddball and think the Nav works well. Of course, I'm coming from a Nav system from 2008.

My phone is also phone only with no data unless it's on WiFi.

Waze works perfectly.

I stopped using Waze a couple years ago when it would constantly show me on side streets when I was driving down the freeway, and wouldn't give me turn notifications until I was right at the intersection and not enough time to safely make the turn

Yeah, that was a couple of years ago. I've used for the past 3 years on my truck without a single issue except the Android Auto GPS issue. But that wasn't Waze's fault.

Well to be honest, Google Maps bought Waze a few years ago to access their traffic technology. I think it has improved both software, but I prefer Google Maps.

I think there is a camp that really like Google Maps they way it looks and the same with Waze, it may turn off both sides to merge them. But Google maps has added features like police check warnings, however they need to be activated, they are off by default.
