RI only allows for driving on one beach for the whole state that I know of, but you can camp there,you have to have 4x4 and be self contained.

Current state of Cape Cod National Seashore... been closed because of birds for a month!

Probably a 4-5 hour trip to get there? Not horrible.

National Seashore is the only place you can buy a temporary pass, 1-week for $50. Pretty easy to do for a day or weekend trip though, and the scenery is truly epic. It's still shut down for nesting birds however.

FYI - You'll need basic recovery gear, a shovel, and at minimum a 18"X18" piece of 1-inch plywood as a jack platform. They do an inspection before granting the pass. (or did before Covid anyway)
