Was totally in control. I was switching between 2nd and 3rd gear, and barely needed brakes when not turning.

I suppose having that 33 gallon tank comes in handy at such gas guzzling altitudes ? Rocky Mountain High, colorado - thanks John D. Just being silly. It is 'Silly Sunday' after all, says so on my new 2020 calendar so it MUST be TRUE .

Very close. The Mt. Evans road is 15ft. higher than Pike's Summit.

Also, Mt Evans is (or was) known to be the highest paved road in the US. Pikes Peak was gravel near the top, but I think they paved it to almost the very top?

My family and I did Mt Evans (way cooler than Pike's Peak) and Pike's Peak in the same day. Mount Evans was better as it wasn't overrun with tourists. We were there on the weekend of the fourth of July visiting from WI. and we had an impromptu snow ball fight. Amazing views all around but the wife didn't care for being on the edge of the cliff the whole time...

Looks awesome Wxgs333! That is an awesome drive, I try to make it up every time I'm out there. Took my Fiat 500L up there as well as few different rental trucks, now I need to take up the new Ram. It was much less nerve racking in the Fiat than a full size truck.

Well that sucks. It was on my list this year when I go out that way to go mountain biking. Looks like bikes will still be allowed...that's a long way to pedal up on a full sus bike.
