Mark Dodge Thread

Not home yet, but I'm about halfway there. This thing drives great. I burned through the gas that was in it when I picked it up to do some break in. I'm getting about 20mpg right now. Zero complaints.

MD called me today to request increase my shipping bid since the initial proposed amount by them of 1400 wasn’t accepted in the past three days. Trying for 1500 now…they said if I go to 1800 it will be picked up in a day.

edit - a shipper accepted $1600 will have truck on Monday

Has anyone tried swapping wheels when building with Mark Dodge?
I am wanting a Laramie Night Edition but don't really care for the 22's. I asked Renae and she basically said once the truck is ordered then they will work with me to see what the parts dept may be able to order and they can order for me. I was thinking more along the lines of a "swap". I am wanting the 20" black wheels that the Big Horn NE comes with.
Anyone else check into something like this?

One more question from this newb (sorry for the dumb questions)....
Is the 2" Mopar lift no longer available for 2022's at dealerships?

I did not ask about it directly but was trying to obtain the black rimmed wheel with a certain package but they told me it can't be done.

With regards to the crazy prices for parts and installation, in my experience, usually that department is completely different from sales.
Sales has the flexibility the change prices, but anything related to services, all prices especially labor tend to be fixed prices and usually consistent from service department to department for manufacturer X. Not sure of the philosophy behind it.

Great looking truck love that color combo!!

Charging more for install of windows deflectors in laybor then they cost msrp?

That's not making a profit that's theft.

You make it sound like they lose money by selling trucks, they sell so much in volume they make a ton of cash.

Deflectors
$101 https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-side-window-air-deflectors-crew-cab-82215478
Labor to install $140.

You don't need to give scumbag pricing to make a profit.
I get your frustration. I receive the same reaction when someone wants to buy something from my business but is upset that costs more to ship it to them than the actual price of the item. In my case, we can't do anything about what UPS/FedEx/USPS charges us to ship it. If you want it, that is what it costs to get it to you. In the case of MD, they have a certain rate per hour for labor, with a likely minimum. It doesn't matter what you buy, that rate is what you are paying to get it installed.

Traditionally (meaning pre-shortage era), dealerships don't make their money on the sale. Their sustainable money is made on the service dept and in the finance office. Dealerships are known to be the highest price for repairs and add-ons. That's the price you pay to get it done from an OEM source instead of Joe's Fo-Sho Auto Shop. We expect the latter to be cheaper than the former.

I'm not piling on. I'm too old and too laid back for that these days. This is a view from the inside coming from my time in the car business in the 80's (hated it) and my Dad's 40+ years as a General Manager at various dealerships (yep, he was that guy). With that said, I too was curious about the cost to have it done at MD. I have several add-ons that I plan on having done the minute I pick up my Limited. For the reasons that you are giving examples of above, they will all be done at a local shop that I trust, not at a dealership. I harbor no ill-will towards MD for the pricing. It's normal dealership pricing. It's a choice. Pay up to have it done in an OEM shop and ready when I pick it up, or save some bucks and take it to a local shop.

I got this from my sales person today about shipping costs, our logistics specialist works with you by posting your truck one the transport site and looking at it today, transporters are accepting rates from $.64 a mile to $0.85 per miles, it will depend on the number of vehicles the transport has going that way and price of gas.

I will be shipping 1250 miles.

So those that did go with shipping, are these rates inline with what you have paid recently?
Thanks

I paid $900 to ship about the same miles back in June.

Ordered my ram 1500 limited on 12/21 arrive this morning to 2/17/22. From start to finish what a great experience. Mark dodge put block letter stickers on the driver rear window markdodge.net. I’m not a big fan, has anyone had any success in removing?
mine was nearly super glued----windex and new utility blade took care of it

I just ended up paying 1600 today to get my truck but since it’s going to California and gas prices are like $5 now it’s probably reasonable…works out to 93 cents a mile

Picked mine up today and made it home w/o any issues. I got my first honk/thumbs-up during a gas fill-up so others appreciate her as well.
Initial impressions:
Even the non-tow mirrors are BIG (compared to my Silverado); gonna miss not having foldable mirrors
Air suspension makes for a comfy ride. I did notice some side-to-side "wobble" on semi-aggressive lane changes; need to double-check tire air pressure recommendation
Avg 14.8 mpg on drive home (333 miles); 40% country (FM) road at 65mph, 60% interstate at 75mph (was hoping for slightly better mpg)
GT exhaust note is bliss when u get on it; unnoticeable at cruise speed
Interior is best in class and quiet at cruise speed
Loving the console shifter -- definitely gives it a more sporty vibe and something to grab a hold of
The power running boards were an expensive option but very cool/functional
MD experience has been great since day1...will never buy anywhere else!

Sweet truck man! My Rebel is sitting at MD... I cant get down there until next week. I liked the GT options, but didnt like the shifter... took up so much space in the console... But now Im kicking myself as I didnt realize the GT package was the only one to offer the air cooled seats.. I'll survive.

Thanks! Yes, i tried the ventilated seats and they worked great on this humid, 71 deg day. In fact had to lower it from high to med cuz was too cold

The shifter taking up space might have bugged me if I'd had a previous RAM but I've only drove Chevy's -- don't judge me LOL

Something else i forgot to mention is the Harmon Kardon sound system is awesome. not sure why that gets so much hate in forum.

Chevy was column? Right? All mine were (94, 95, 96, 64-k suburban, 98, 2000, 02, 08, 10) oddly don't miss any except for the '64

Looks great! Definitely check the air pressure in all 4 tires. When mine was delivered, all 4 tires were significantly off from the recommended pressure.

That's a great looking truck. It would look real nice here in GA Dawg country!

Does anyone have a reliable contact for someone at MD? When I submitted a request on their "contact us" forum, a person eventually emailed me, I replied back with what I was looking for and such, and I haven't heard back since. I've tried following up the last few days and even calling. I never get through to the person.
