Mark Dodge Thread

I am a Mercedes Tech and alot of the new cars come with missing options due to parts availability. I got in an A class a few weeks back with manual seats. I was like WTF. Who buys a benz with manual seats. But to answer your question, there is only 1 option right now that is being added after the fact and that is the vehicle with the missing Hermes control units. There is a recall for it. Other options that are missing, your SOL.

That’s literally what the Mercedes rental specialist told me. He walked me to the car to show me how to adjust the seats. I told him I grew up in the 80s and my dad’s ‘85 Caprice had those. He chuckled and said “I’ve no idea how they’re gonna sell this thing for $50K”.

some customers don't care. They just want to drive a Mercedes. Most are leasing it as well, so they don't care. I personally would never drive one with manual seats though. It seems to be the A class, CLA's and maybe some of the C classes that have that option missing. You won't find an S class with manual seats.

They’re nice cars. Owned a few over the years. My favorite was my ‘19 E63 wagon. That was a unicorn. Super spendy out of warranty. Wife’s ‘17 GLE63s I brought in for what I thought was “just” service B. Found out I had leaky timing cover gaskets on both sides. This is at 56,000 miles. All in plopped $4 grand and traded it in for a ‘21 two days later. Got CPO through ‘27. Never again out of warranty haha.

A YouTube vlogger drove his C63 in heavy rain. Water got through the intakes and into the actual cylinders. Engine went buh-bye. Warranty denied it. Insurance totaled it since the new motor would have been $71 grand on an $80 grand car.

The new engines Mercedes have are garbage when it comes to repairs. Especially the 63's. Mercedes loved shoving 10 million things in the engine bay and give us o room to do anything and pay **** to fix it. Front cover leaks on those engines are common. The turbo coolant line leaks are also common, not cheap when you are out of warranty. We rarely fix any new engines when they are flood damaged. Not worth it. Insurance totals most because Mercedes is ridiculous on their engine prices. We used to rebuild the older engines when insurance used to actually pay decent. adjusters these days nickle and dime repairs that we just shoot for engines from the get go.

Exactly. They’re so complex and crammed. Audi’s twin turbo V8s aren’t much better. When I go to cars and coffee I always spend time at the classics section. There’s a reason you’ll find ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s cars, especially Mercedes. No way modern cars are lasting that long.

Was wondering what everyone's experience with Mark Dodge has been these last couple weeks. I know they've been swamped but my truck got delivered on July 10th, it took a week for PDI, got a call this Monday morning saying PDI was complete and I just need to handle finance, I've been told for the last few days that a finance manager was supposed to get to me. Still nothing, was curious what everyone else experiencing with this? thanks!

Send an email to Aaron and explain your situation. He is very understanding and will do his best to get your finance deal handled. Same thing with mine, was delivered on the 9th, Aaron called me on the 14th to explain everything and I filed out the credit application and then I suspect it may have never made it to finance or if it did, it was pushed to the side, but I spoke to Aaron about it monday or tuesday and he got it squared away and finalized. He mentioned that are extremely busy right now and are doing there best to handle everyone's orders.

Just got the email from Aaron! It’s taking 7-10 days from this point till the truck is released for shipping or pickup.

I know. Sandi initially told me 15-25+ weeks. They must build them in batches of certain trim and/or color and I lucked out when I put the order in. I’m not mad though. Was hoping to make a weekend out of the trip to pick her up but it wasn’t meant to be. We will see what my shipping options are.

limiteds get built faster than everything else, they basically jump the line
sigh... i just can't deal with all the chrome and air suspension lol it's gonna be a desert running/ overlanding rig so the chrome and air suspension will need to go.

I still haven’t heard from Aaron. Truck arrived at port on July 5th. Estimated Delivery Date on the tracker was yesterday, but has since changed to TBD.

Between this and the Window Sticker debacle (not their issue), I’ll be collecting social security by the time I get this truck, lol.

It switches to TBD when it’s delivered right before it updates to “delivered” status. Same thing happened to me. They’re unbelievably swamped with hundred of presold trucks drop shipped on them in the last 10 days.

Just picked up my truck from Mark Dodge about 20 min ago I have to say I’m a little disappointed in the quality from the factory on this one. Huge tailgate gaps when you close it, spray in bedliner overspray on the right side bed. It was pouring rain when I got here this morning so it was really hard to inspect the vehicle at the dealer. Sales people were all in a meeting so I’m assuming one of the Porter‘s had brought it underneath the service drive which is extremely small so Had to drive down the road to a gas station so I could pull under neath the overhead to inspect everything. Once I get a little ways from here and it starts to clear up and the truck dries out I’ll be able to look at it a little better.

Yikes there does seem to be an issue with that tailgate. That over spray would drive me nuts. This is when I say the high daily production volume can increase the risk of quality suffering. Those issues should have been easy to spot even with a quick glance at the factory. I hope something can be done for you.

If you can I'd turn around and show MD.
