Maps update failure!

Would those files work on a 2020 Limited with 12” screen? Would be great to avoid paying $149 for a map update

The email for my 2021 Ram 12" screen links to UConnect. For years it has 2006 to 2021. To order you must provide the unique numbers from the screen. Therefore the software is only for that one vehicle.

Still no luck.... only need to wait 4 more weeks to get it in and looked at :)

From my USB stick the file size of the 9 files is 17,587,276,491 or 16.3G , i did use a 64G FAT32 USB stick to load them.
You may want to retry using a stick bigger than 16G .

Looking at the TomTom site RAM + Ram, Light Duty , Heavy Duty and UC5 ProMaster all have the same 9 files.
All have 16.4G and v2022.09 files ( we must be due for a new version ! )
may I ask what is the actually size after your downloads (9 files)? I have download all 9 files, but only 12.3 GB, not 16.4 Gb

After 5 weeks RamCares tells me I need to go a dealer for repair :ROFLMAO:
Luckily my appt is this Friday.
Tom

So far no luck, Dealer had to open a Star case and is waiting to hear back.
Tom

It's 16GB.
You must be missing one of the bigger files
I concur...after looking at the versions for my Nav, I was a bit surprised to find it had file dates of May or July 2021 for a Nov 22 build. I guess they just keep using the same software to load into the system. But oddly enough my Uconnect had the second most recent version from 2022...go figure. Anywho I downloaded the files today and it's 16.4 GiB (17,587,276,491) 9 files total dated Oct 2022. I'll try the update on Sunday when I have an hour to connect my battery charger and let it sit while updating the Nav. I have a USB 3.1 flashdrive but I doubt the RAM is that fast.

It took a solid 45 minutes and I used a USB 3.1 drive that gets a constant 120-140MBps read no matter the size of the file.

Maps don't update with the Uconnect software (there is a single post here that someone included maps).

You can let it go while you are driving if you aren't using the nav. I used it when I had an hour and 25 minute drive.

Just completed the map update on my 2022 12" UC5 - no issues. Map info shows 09/2022 date. Instead of starting the engine, I put a battery charger on and pushed the RAM's start button in Acc, tapped the Nav button for full screen Nav, and then inserted the USB stick. The software detected the update and asked if I wanted to update the Maps with a start button displayed. It confirmed and then went to a status screen showing a progress bar. It took 33 mins to do the update but the truck auto-off kicked  in at 25 mins so I quickly pressed the Start button to set it back in Acc position and the map update continued (WHEW!). 8 minutes later it said the update completed successfully and I turned off the truck, let everything power down, then went back to Acc position to confirm the maps were all good. No issues and all of my settings, favourites, and recents were still present. I used a 32gig USB 2.0 stick formatted in FAT32.

I just did this last week. Made these selections and had no issues.View attachment 155813
Im curious as to how one goes about getting the map updates. I have a 2022 Ram 1500 Limited and the map version is dated 04/21. So mine was outdated when I bought it. I have never had a OTA update yet. The trials ran out in Nov. 22. Not I just subscribe to Connect .What am I missing? Thanks

MAPS

My dealer said the maps on a 23 are different than the 2022 rams due to the digital dash change and being able to put the navigation up on the dash.
They opened a STAR case on mine but due to work I cannot get back in until early June.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the maps are too big to update OTA (16.4gigs) - you need to download the map files and update manually. It's free and not hard to do as I said above - I did it on Sunday without issues and now I have the latest available maps.

That's not true.

For 2022 and above they actually claim there is map subscription service (which I had free for 6 months).
16GB is not very big at all and the cell speeds are far faster then the usb 2.0 speeds the truck has.

Ram's OTA system is just garbage for everything.

I have that subscription but the Maps will not update OTA unless you enable WiFi and configure a connection. I won't use my phone connection and I"m not home with the engine running in the driveway long enough to use my WiFi, so it was easier to just download the maps like Stellantis suggests.

USB 2.0 is 480 mbps while 4g is 150 mbps and typical carrier 4g speeds are 30-50 mbps in the real world. That makes the USB about 10x faster. That's why I chose to download the maps and do it manually.

My UC5 updated the firmware on it's own within a month of coming home...works fine for me.

My 22 Rebel UC 5 has never updated the map despite me subscribing to the Ram Connect navigation package for the last 2 years.($100 per year) It's supposed to update every 6 months. The map my truck came with is dated 11-10-2020! It was already 2 years out of date when I bought the truck in October 2022. Needless to say I'm pissed!
