Low oil pressure?

Interesting. Today I watched TFL do a low speed hot steep test “the toaster” on the new ram 3.0 SO. Oil temp was like 235 (pretty normal for my hemi to see that towing in the mountains or hard acceleration towing).

When they stopped after the pull it had 20 psi oil pressure and triggered a low oil pressure warning. Seemed a little sensitive.

Dropped it off at dealership today they did agree 22psi oil pressure is a little low at idle they are going to be doing more testing, will find out tommorow

What did they find out? Cracked pickup tube? Seal on pickup tube?

Mines always idled around 24 for what it's worth.

engineering got them to do mechanical gauge test, my gauge inside was off by 3 psi, truck actually idles at 25psi, plus fca told them these new truck are more efficient, they do have low idle pressure compared to old. Not sure if I believe that lol. But they also compared my truck to two other brand new 24s on lot , both measured about the same in fact one was idling at 20psi. Not too worried since everything is documented.

Yeah I suspect it's more of the sensor and it's tolerances on your truck and maybe batches of them on other trucks versus actual pressure.

Maybe different vendors over time, mine may read a little higher than reality while yours may read a little lower than reality, either way they're probably the same.

few months down the road it will be -30c here in Canada lol that will take care of oil pressure.

That seems low. At least historically, we are seeing 28-31 at hot idle. 49-50 at moderate constant speed when up to oil temp at around 200F or higher.
Same here. 28-29 psi idle at a stoplight after it is warmed up, 49 ish running at 45-60 mph.
Stock oil.

My 2024 limited with 5.7 eTorue has 1700 miles on it and fully warmed up idles at 22psi per the dash also.

Odd range indeed, but based on the posts it sounds like it may not be the most accurate of gauges.

I verified my hot idle pressure yesterday. My truck says 34-35 psi. So weird that there's so much variation between trucks.

I think the variation is likely from different batches of sensors from vendors, spanning different years. There are many in the 28-31 range, but now we are seeing those down in the 22 range in a regular basis.

Either way, I'm sure the actual pressures are similar.

Lets hope so. It is like tire pressure sensors and gauges.
