Its probably sprayed axle grease on the inside of the rim, hopefully not on your brakes

Just happened to me too… in the snow, front wheels had no power in 4H.
Giant grinding nose. I spun on the rear wheels to get to safety with the kid in the car.

Friend looked underneath - front drive shaft shredded at transfer case. We unbolted it, and I limped home 205 miles with chains on (lucky I had them).

Dealer replace front drive shaft and transfer case under warranty. I apparently also shred the transfer case connector to the front drive shaft.

Completely lost my confidence in my 2021 Laramie, 6k miles. I may trade it, just for confidence. Sad because I was so positive on the truck before this.

Seems like a design defect in front shaft under torque.

UPDATE: came back with a clunk in rear driveline, dealer couldn’t find cause but did do Teo software updates and added fluid to transfer case. Ram ran better but had intermittent clunk. over it trade for a 2023 Limited (no noises in driveline).
