2019 ram 1500 limited. Audio just quit. radio functions but no sound. Voice recognition system is silent also. This happened one other time and reset itself after truck was shut off and re started. Not this time. What would just shut down all the speakers?

I have the 8” nav with alpine system and this happened to me a couple of months ago. Mine came back on after leaving the truck off a few hours. I remember another thread about this and multiple people have experienced this with no explanation from Ram. That’s what sucks about electronics when something goes bad. It’s actually difficult for most techs to troubleshoot unless they’re an electronics guy.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear this is happening. Please PM us with more details so I can look into this further.

It's something that has happened to many of us. Most likely a software issue. If it comes and goes in 2 second intervals, though, then there's a TSB to check to see if it's your backup camera.

It's been intermittent in mine since I bought it over a year ago. Every time I take it to the dealership for something I have them check for a software update. So far nothing.

A quick fix (at least for me) is to push the input button on the steering wheel (right side center button on the back of the steering wheel). Cycle the input with that button and your audio should come back. Every time I lose audio I do that trick and it comes back.

Someday FCA may come out with a software update for us. With uConnect 5 on the horizon (and whatever modification to the infotainment system to support that expansion) we may be obsolete before our factory warranty runs out. :(

Seems to be happening to my truck a couple times a month. For me at least, I just have to select AM on the radio and when I switch back to XM or FM everything functions normal again. I should note that AM immediately plays audio.

Hi everyone,

Have you taken your vehicles to the dealership to have them look at this concern? If you'd like, I would be happy to open a case for you to document these concerns. Please send us a message.

I have had my truck at the dealership 5 or 6 times for warranty work and every time I list this as a complaint. Every time the answer is the same, "we expect a software update by the end of the quarter."
The software update has been "coming soon" since I bought the truck in March 2019, just like the dash cluster theme that doesn't save if you choose something other than THEME 1.

Oh yeah. Their get out of jail free card.

RamCares - want to shed light on when this magical all healing software update is coming? Or should we just bring our trucks into the dealership for them to tell us again the update is coming.

I would be happy to open a case for you and get you over to a Uconnect Specialist who will have more insight on how to address your concerns. Please send us a message if that's something you'd be interested in.

Update
I took the truck back to the dealership. They said they did a factory update. Audio sound back, YEAH. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Exactly what Brian42 said. Intermittent makes it a pain to diagnose (about once every few weeks or so) and pressing the source button on the steering wheel will get the audio back. I haven't been in for service in a few months, but they kept promising an update was coming. Maybe it finally did.

This happened to me today. Got in my 2020 1500 limited. Harmon Kardon 12in display. Started it up once I was in it not remote start. Plugged my iPhone XS into usb cable for CarPlay (I also have Bluetooth for the device set in truck) no audio. When I turn the volume knob nothing happens. Volume number never shows up. Tried every button on the screen including mute nothing. Tried the input button behind steering wheel cycling thru all sources. Still no audio. Powered off truck twice still nothing. Went ahead and drove to grocery store (About 10 mins). Went in and came back (about 10 mins). Started truck and audio is back. Next time it happens I’m going to delete my phone from unconnect then power off truck to see if it’s my iOS on the phone causing the issue. I have not installed any 3rd party apps for uconnect. By the way my truck is 8 days old. 400 miles on it.
