I've had 4 Gen 4 DS Ram 1500, with the 22 Classic my current truck. Looking at a 2025 Bighorn. I know the motor is new to Ram, but not new to the corporation. The truck has been around since 2019, but putting the two together is new this year. What do I need to know about this year to look for or is it a roll of the dice and see if its good or bad. Reading reviews and forums is all over the place.

Thanks

Most of the issues have been more electrical and infotainment than the engine. Just weird gremlins coming and going.

I've really enjoyed the engine, and thus far have been spared the gremlins.

There's been many a discussion about the features listed on the window sticker aren't on the truck. Reasons vary, but if there are specific features you want, don't assume the window sticker is correct. The speed sensitive auto lock of the doors has been something that has bugged owners of the '25. The tailgate configurations have caused great confusion. Auto down and up features. The multi-function tailgate causes some variables to think about.

I've enjoyed my '25. Some have not as you've read in the reviews. It's definitely a love hate relationship for sure.

wait for the 26's
That was my first thought as I wanted a revised Hemi, but that would fall in a first year for this motor with the new wiring system. From what I've read and talking to the sales guy, the Hemi is going to be the same old Hemi with the etorque system and I'm not dealing with that mess. He also told me that it will be in the upper trim levels only with a mark up for the Hemi. That might be true as the new Express package that was leaked does not have the Hemi as an option. Right now in my area the 1500 Bighorns are discounted 17k off sticker putting them in the mid 40s and going off the Express leak a 4x4 crew cab with the SO is going to sticker around 52k. After driving one the SO spanks the Hemi in acceleration with the same MPG and this is coming from a diehard V8 guy. I can only imagination what the HO does.

My hang up on a 2025 or any year is the lack of support from the factory. This includes other auto makers also. I might just sit back a watch what happens.

My wife's loaded up 22 Durango has the same infotainment problems, it works when it wants to.

The “wait for the 2026s” argument is a but over-simplistic, IMO. There’s no magic that occurs in year changes from a reliability standpoint.

Instead, as time passes, more updates, recalls, and TSB changes are applied to trucks leaving the factory. So, a 2025 built in March 2025 will, in theory, have many more bugs worked out than a 2025 built in April 2024. A 2026 built in June 2025 will only be marginally more reliable.

The biggest argument for a 2026 will be any additional features offered.

Can't speak to a SO but mine has 16000+ miles on it and never had an issue. As for software issues, those have plagued every model of Stellantis vehicle for years, they will not somehow magically be fixed in 2026, as long as the company continues to pay for sub-par software. The Hurricane has now been in multiple vehicles, some have issues, some don't, just like Hemi 5.7s. If you're all about the most proven engine, get the 3.6.

The truck has already been out a year. The 2025's rolled off early and will have a run longer than 1 year. I have a 2025 Laramie and love it so far. No issues.

I was waiting on the return of the Hemi before buying, but seeing that is was not on the 2026 ordering papers, it will late 26 release at best. My research of the Hemi is that it will be unchanged from 2024, MDS, etorque, and the same power specs. Then being told (by a salesman; take it as far as you want) that it will be the higher trims only and having an upcharge to get it swayed my decision.

In researching the 2025s I ran across some users that had issues, but I ran across just as many like yourself who are running problem free with miles on the truck. Agreed the Stellantis software leaves a lot to be desired.

Worth noting . . . I have had two 2025 SOs. The first one had a ton of problems, and is being bought back after I filed a Lemon Lawsuit. Almost all problems were electrical.

The second one had a leaking water pump right off the bat, but but has been great ever since (fingers crossed).
