Let's see those running boards/side steps

Just I thought as I forget about them but I have the mud guards too so that could help with the ice and slush build up .

Appreciate the tip. I live in the Phoenix area so hopefully that won’t be an issue….

2021 Quad Cab - Go Rhino D6. Ordered 80” boards (the crew cab uses 88” boards) and the crew cab mounting kit. Go Rhino ….. fast shipment and great support figuring this out.

For those in the rust belt, for some of the boards I have seen installed, it looks like some of the gaps between the board and cab would potentially cause issues with trying to get the salt off the truck and lead to rust issues. Is it better to get one that has a wider gap to ensure it can be cleaned properly?

Mopar off-road running boards. Totally lucked out—found these on Facebook marketplace for $450 in great shape.

Install took me two and one half hours, most of that removing paint from the bolts. Someone with more experience probably could knock an hour off this time. I torqued everything to spec, and put anti seize on the bolts after install. Many thanks for all the tips I learned here on the forum.

By the way, I used a wire brush attachment on a Dremel to remove the paint after trying a regular wire brush and a pick. Paint comes right off easily. All my top bolts were fine (i.e., little or no paint) except one (and even that one was light). See picture. No need for a die IMO.

I have been looking for those boards . I did get some Mopar Rock sliders from a Trx , guy wanted Electric . Hopefully down the road i can find some on FB market place.

Yes, about 3 to 4 inches in my estimation. I'll update this post with a picture later. As far as stock/OEM, I think this is the furthest out from the truck you can get from Mopar. I thought this would bother me, but it doesn't. Definitely will help protect against door dings better.

By comparison, see post #267 above (red Rebel, different board). Off-road stick out about one more inch than those other boards. The charcoal colored truck is a TRX, which the off road running boards appeared to stick out even further (could be where I held my phone, but I remember thinking they stuck out more). The white truck is my Bighorn. Does not appear to stick out as much as the TRX. I dunno.

What running boards are those ?

I was hoping this were more tucked in tight closer to the truck but turns out I was wrong…

After switching to Mopar power running boards I can't look on regular running boards sticking out of the truck. Best looking running boards are the boards you can't see and that don't touch the ground while you offroad.
Just few days after installing them I went offroading and I've stuck. I needed to retract the boards through the menu to use traction boards for recovery. Regular running boards would prevent me from sticking traction boards to recover myself in reverse.
Sad that Ram doesn't offer this option for Rebels or TRXs from the factory.
