Lane keep assist on 2021

I kept it active for a couple weeks to see if I could learn to live with it, but I just can't get comfortable with it so I've been driving with it off lately.

Hey, you do you, but you complained it fights against you when you don’t use your turn signal, so we offered you an obvious solution.

It's like the guy who goes to the doctor and says "Doc, it hurts here when I do this", and the doctor says "well stop doing that".

Excuse the lecture, but turn signals are NOT required when no other traffic is around you to notify you're changing lanes...

Try the Socialist state of California. I believe it is required at all times when changing lanes. Called as an unsafe lane change. May also be in other states also.

Not in Florida - at least last time I checked the laws. If no other motorists are near you that needs to be made aware that you're changing lanes. Obviously when other drivers are around you then ya, it should be used. Which I 98% of the time always use it.

I'm not at my truck, but isn't there a setting for the amount of assistance? Maybe I'm misremembering, but I thought there was something like "Low/Medium/High" in the settings

No, you’re probably thinking of the ACC. There are a couple of settings:

• Let three cars cut in front of you
• Let two cars in
• Off

I’m not near my truck, but there is a setting for the lane assist strength in the uconnect settings.

Excuse the lecture, but the solution is presented in your problem statement: use your turn signals. They are a safety feature and not using them is a hazard. This is so obvious it shouldn’t need to be stated, but apparently, it does.

My impression on lane keep assist: I haven’t noticed any bouncing from left to right. Instead, I just notice a little resistance in the wheel if I start to drift. I would not describe it as a vibration as was mentioned elsewhere. I’m ambivalent about the feature. It’s neither annoying nor a remarkable feature.

Adaptice cruise control (part of the same package) on the other hand, that’s been great. My new truck is the first vehicle I’ve had with that feature, and I miss it when driving my wife’s car.

I know, I see it everyday. One of the best local knowledge when it comes to driving is in Guam.
A red light means three more cars are coming through on your green.

Hi RAMers,

I am about to buy 2021 Ram 1500 Limited and wondering how good is the lane keep assist. Its my first truck and I am coming from SUV where this feature was quite good and I get used to it. You could use it on highways with ACC on and it can keep you in the center of the lane. I have read this feature is not good on Rams, but cant find any good video on youtube how good/bad it is. Maybe 2021 has it updated?

Whats your experience with it? Can it keep you in the center of the lane or its bouncing from side to side when you cross the lane markings.

It works if you let go of the wheel it will bounce all over the place probably not as good as f150 lane centering

I can verify that from the times I've ventured that far south. It was VERY noticeable.

I've play with mine on the different settings in different 'settings." I've decided it will serve a purpose primarily on long trips particularly when pulling the trailer but long trips. All of us take our eyes off the road upon occasion at 80 miles per hour (Montana) only to look back and realize you are a couple of feet into the next lane. I am not judging the reasons, but there are lots of distractions these days including a 12 inch screen, that really neat HUD display right there in front of you like science fiction...that text you just heard come in etc., ad nauseum. At 80 MPH, that can be dangerous, very... That is a lot of mass and momentum you are behind the wheel of. If it is smart enough to keep me from doing it and I can adjust it enough to meet my satisfaction, I'm going to use it...on those long trips...

Thanks. Here's what the manual says: The LaneSense system has settings to adjust the intensity of the torque warning and the warning zone sensitivity (Early/Medium/Late) that you can configure through the Uconnect system.

I don't mind the feature. Moving to the Ram with tow mirrors from a Jeep Grand Cherokee (and my Mazda 3 daily driver) it's helped me get a feel for the greater width of the truck. I do agree that the truck is so wide relative to most lanes that LaneSense is activated quite a bit. I liken it to feeling like there's a little bit of a curb you bump against if you start crossing into the other lane without your signal.
