Spends too much time on here
This thread is dedicated to Jimmy 07 who made it possible. Thanks Jimmy 07.
I start with this thread because it gives you the material and procedure to program a key fob for the Ram 1500 DT. The balance is in chronological order.

As long as it's a new, unused OE FOB, or from one of the known sellers, (mine was nasse_4407), JScan can program it.
Where folks got into trouble was buying reman OE FOBs that hadn't been properly reset or counterfeit OE FOBs.
AND throwing in Alpha OBD and Jscan

Tonight my new key fob programmer came in. I successfully programmed a new fob(now with tailgate open function)for my 22 5th gen that didn’t have that function before. The new programmer will do most makes and models and should pay for itself after a couple uses.

I’m in the same boat lol bought one on EBay and My dealer said they can try but I will have to pay either way if successful or notI lost one of my key fobs and went on eBay and bought one. I am now being told by the dealer that the keys cannot be reprogrammed to a different truck. Anyone know if this is correct or if there is a way to reset them . I figured I would have to pay to reprogram both keys but don't see why this can't be done. Anyone have this same problem
It is in the Owner's Manual.I forget where, but I did read that once a fob is paired to a vehicle it cannot be changed, so make sure you buy a new one and whoever you buy from is reputable.
I see that in the owners manual now. I am going to drop it off at the dealer for leak tomorrow and to get a second key. I’ll see what they do With my old keys.

I have a 2019 Ram Lone Star with the keyless start. I lost one of my key fobs and I am looking into getting a replacement. I have a few questions...
- Can I get a used key fob (say from eBay or a junkyard) and have it programmed? Or does it have to be a new key fob?
- Does anyone have experience with what a dealer and/or locksmith charges to program a key fob?
- I found this site that offers new and refurbished key fobs - https://www.carandtruckremotes.com/2019-dodge-ram-smart-remote-key-68291687ae-refurbished.html. Does anyone have experience buying from this site?
Thanks

I recently upgraded from a 2019 Limited to a 2025 1500 Limited and encountered a strange issue with my key fobs. The problem was that neither of my key fobs would respond when pressing any of the buttons, despite still having passive entry and no issues with starting the truck.
I attempted to troubleshoot the issue by:
I attempted to troubleshoot the issue by:
- Replacing the batteries in both fobs (no change)
- Disconnecting the positive and negative terminals for over 20 minutes (hoping to reset the ECU, but no change)

thanks, I was wondering if THAT specific aftermarket fob is needed for jscan to work. Maybe I am overthinking it, a fob is a fob, it should talk to the truck the same way for it to be functional.

Has anyone used Alphaobd to customize the software on your Ram? Does it work with on 2019 trucks? I’m hesitant to pay $130 for my dealer to add the sales code for the factory trailer brake controller that I installed myself. Could this be an option?

We have very extensive AlfaODB thread so I thought maybe it is time to start one for JScan? Seems JScan is slowly getting upgraded in what it can do and I am an Apple world guy so it is my only option right now. I don't mind buying an Android, but if I can use what I already have why not? I have found with the help of others that not everything works as you might think so a thread like this would help others get to where they need to be as members post their mod "recipe".
