But it's time to say goodbye. I traded my 2019 Ram Rebel in last Friday. It was the truck that saw me buy a house, start my business, marry the love of my life, transport two newborns around, and took me to so many cool places, hunting and fishing. The truck had over $15k in warranty repairs over the last 3-4 years. All the common Ram problems, you name it, I had it. Exhaust manifolds, leaks, rear window, power tilt mirrors, evap core ($$$$), etc. The final straw for me was the eTorque failing for the third time. Despite all that, I loved that truck. If it wasn't an eTorque? I might have kept it. I will say, my local dealer really took care of me. They got so much covered that Mopar fought them on.

Best wishes to everyone and good luck with your trucks! I have a few odds and ends I'll be selling from my Rebel on here in the next couple days so keep your eyes open.

Not that it really matters, but this is what I ended up going with. I wanted the most simple, naturally aspirated, tried and tested motor I could find. I drove 8 hours round trip to get it. They gave me a great deal on my trade.

I think the Tremor is a fantastic replacement. Wish I could afford one. Keep an eye on the cylinder deactivation in the Coyote engine...they can end up with similar issues like Rams MDS system.

I appreciate the heads up on that. My only regret was not being able to wait another year and maybe score a new truck with lightened emissions regs.

Sorry to see you go but congrats. No one can blame you for moving on, sounds like you had all the patience in the world for your Ram.

Man, I feel your pain to some extent.

If Ford had a real quad cab set up or if I was open to a Crew…. I might be right there with you. I’m kind of pissed off about my new tow module errors I did not have before the recall replacement. But those suicide doors on the Ford Super Cab’s are a turn off and GM doesn’t remotely interest me. Makes me kind of stuck, hopefully my dealer can sort it out.

Good luck with your new truck. Hopefully you grow to love it as much as your Ram.

I’m pretty sure a tune can deactivate that “feature”. I know they figured that out early in the GM and combined with using a real oil my buddy has had 60k trouble free miles on his 6.2.

I would just be worried about the transmission, that’s what mostly steered me away from ford

i'm a RAM fanboy.....no e-trash for me i would have found a 2022 conventional hemi or just got a 2-turbo RAM with 10yr-100K mi .
good looking truck but i just couldn't pull the trigger on a F1chitty

Great looking Truck. As much as I get frustrated with hearing about issues others have had, I have been fortunate with my 22 Big Horn. When I have thought of going elsewhere, I discovered that none of the others are perfect either. Even Toyota, which used to be bullet proof. Given your experience, my opinion is you made a good choice, and the same one I would have made, for what its worth.

Funny how things go in circles, and for different people. I came from being a long-time Ford owner. I owed a Mustang and four different Ford trucks. I finally got sick of their crappy quality and came to Ram, finding a better truck with similarly crappy quality. I'm on my second Ram, which has had significantly less problems than the first.

Time will tell. Best of luck in your new auto adventure.

I was Chevy guy. Learned to drive on a 68 Chevy 1/2 ton with a 6 cylinder and 3 on the tree. Drove Chevys up until around 2000 when i couldn't deal with all the little stuff breaking. After that drove Toyotas until I picked up the RAM a month ago. Was never a Ford guy so didn't even consider them when I was looking. Went with the RAM for the interior, Hurricane engine and warranty. Also figured at least the motor won't self destruct like the GM/Chevys and Toyotas.

The bottom line is: New trucks and cars are no where near the quality as they used to be. Things go and need maintenance and that's fine. That is one matter, entirely. If we really want to get real about things....

Ram has had tons of issues over the years. For a CEO to come out and say that "We are seeing too many vehicles come off the assembly line with issues" says volumes. I really don't need to re-hash my experience.

Chevy/GMC, I know 3 people personally, who didn't make it to their first oil change with the 6.2L.

Toyota, I know of one person and 2-3 second hand stories of motor replacements on the Tundra.

Ford, the 10-speed is a known issue. However, other than that, I've just heard some issues with the IWE hubs and Ford warranties them. I went with the 5.0 for obvious reasons. Turbos + Longevity = Don't mix.

So to say it's only Ram is completely unfair. My issues were my issues (although, other people have had them). The funny part about this all is I actually gave Ram a second shot. My dealer had zero interest in selling me a truck. I briefly entertained a Power Wagon with the big hemi. My dealer, unsurprisingly, had none. Surprisingly though, they weren't interested in pulling one in either. They showed me four 1500's on the lot. Two had the Hurricane, the other two had the hemi eTorque. Shame on Ram the first time with the eTorque. Shame on me the second time if I got another. The really sad thing is my Ram was the 4th Chrysler vehicle I've owned. My wife had a Jeep GC-L we hated. So I guess we count that as five then. Even beyond that, my father has and had multiple Ram's, Durangos, Jeeps etc. This is the end of a 25 year relationship with Chrysler in my immediate family. It is a bit sad, if you ask me.

The only brand I have heard that continues to not have known problematic issues are the German cars. From what I've personally seen, BMW and Mercedes make great cars and SUVs. But of course, you pay handsomely for them and I would never own one without a warranty.

As someone who has owned and driven BMWs they are great cars however the maintenance costs will eat you alive.

jd power - RAM is number 1 for initial quality 2026. really that's not saying much, nowadays the bar is pretty low.
i know a master ford tech. he said moisture in the tail light turns into 10k in repairs because it takes out 6 or 7 other modules.
i have a 2000 silverado that i will keep for the rest of my life. there is nothing on it i can' fix by myself i may even do the ZF 8speed swap

Have had 3 BMWs and two MB before that. Did the maintenance myself and they were all mechanically bullet proof. Oil leaks in 2 of them that needed $5-8k in labor to repair. And just had $20k in replacing the ZF and the front diff in our X7 6 months into ownership (2nd owner). Luckily warranty for those that the benz dealer sold me nevertheless. X7s are tanking transfer cases and front differentials because bean counters wouldn’t let the engineers design a new one for rhe larger chassis so they threw in the same one down rhe 5 series. And shocker or aint working.

So many good points here for sure. I'm personally not brand loyal, but I always seem to go back to Ram because they've given me the least amount of issues. If I'm being honest...I like the way F150s ride, drive, and handle over everyother truck. But they seem to eat through batteries, brake pads, and have the quirky 10 speed with electrical issues that make me nervous. If it wasnt for those issues, I'd be in another F150. But who knows...I like to change things up every couple of years anyway.
