Anyone have issues with air vents not working correctly? The floor position is no different from the floor/defrost position. Everything else seems correct, but won’t stop blowing air from defrost when it’s on floor only.

Thanks in advance

We have also purchased a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. It has nearly the same controls as the Ram trucks. We noticed in that vehicle as well, that when the floor vents are on, air also comes out of the side defrost vents. More than what one would expect to since there is an option to have both one anyway. Is there any way to confirm this is normal?

That's the way it works. The Bi-Level and Floor mode always has a bit coming to defrost and side demister vents.

Pg 87 in the Owners Manual.

Bi-Level Mode Bi-Level Mode Air comes from the instrument panel outlets and floor outlets. A slight amount of air is directed through the defrost and side window demister outlets. NOTE: Bi-Level mode is designed under comfort conditions to provide cooler air out of the panel outlets and warmer air from the floor outlets.
Floor Mode Floor Mode Air comes from the floor outlets. A slight amount of air is directed through the defrost and side window demister outlets.
Mix Mode Mix Mode Air is directed through the floor, defrost, and side window demister outlets. This setting works best in cold or snowy conditions that require extra heat to the windshield. This setting is good for maintaining comfort while reducing moisture on the windshield.

Thanks for your replies. We came from Chevy to Jeep/Ram with the purchase of 2 2019 vehicles. Just getting used to the differences.

I have a not fully related but similar issue that I am experiencing and it is very aggravating. Unknown as to why, but with normal face AC setting on there is slight amounts of cool air coming from the front windshield defroster and side window defroster vents. In the normal muggy and humid conditions of Florida, this causes a significant amount of moisture to build up on the lower portion of the windshield and leads to near-complete fogging of the passenger side window (I presume my driver side does not fog as much because of the little amount of body heat given off) and this annoying to say the least. I am being told by the service department that this is normal, yet I just traded in my 2013 Ram 1500 Laramie and I never had that issue with that vehicle, nor does my father who currently owns a 2016 Ram 1500 Longhorn. Even the rental vehicle I am presently driving while my truck is being looked at doesn't do the same. Since I am aware of a current HVAC recall on some of the 2019 rams wit the 12" touch screens I decided to check but turned up nothing. Oddly enough, one of my brothers has the 2019 rebel and it does exactly the same thing as mine, except with the feet setting turned on, there is a tremendous amount of airflow coming from the DEFROST Vents-how could that be considered normal operation? I am looking for a little insight and ammo to present to the service department as this cannot be proper function. It's simple if one of the defrost settings isn't on then no air should be coming out of the defrost vents-right? This will be my 10th vehicle and the first ever with this issue. I've been reading a lot of reviews and even posted my own thread on this site and it appears I am not the only one that's aggravated by this. There were a few good explanations such as the mode door not sealing properly allowing this slight bit of air to exit the front windshield defrost but yet my local RAM service department can't find anything and seem to think this is normal. I can fully understand if I had a blend mode on but I am talking strictly normal front a/c setting. There has to be a solution, I shouldn't have to expect to drive a $60k and get moisture building up on the windshield in the mid-day because cold air is pouring out of defrost vents. Any comments, insight or suggestions would be appreciated. Bought truck less than 2 weeks ago...

Hello cgraydotcom,
I have a 2017 Laramie and I am experiencing the same issue. When the climate control is set to floor mode a greater amount of air or equal amount is blowing from the defrost as is blowing from the floor vent. This is the second winter driving the truck. This issue wasn't noticed last winter. The truck is still under warranty and the dealership recently replaced the heater box as they thought this could be the issue. Unfortunately this has not resolved the issue. I've been told there is nothing else they can do. I've checked 4 other Ram pick ups including one owned by a service advisor at the dealership I deal with and none of them blow air as forceful from the defrost as mine does when in floor mode. While I fully understand there will be some air coming from the defrost when in floor mode, the flow of air shouldn't be the same or greater then what's coming out of the floor. I'm not sure at this point what my next step will be. I should mention the dealership agreed the amount of air coming from the defrost when in floor mode was excessive.
