[ISSUE] 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel — EPS Jerking, Park Not Engaging, Full Blackout After ABS Recall (75B)

Hi everyone,
I’m posting this to see if any other Ram 1500 owners have experienced a similar issue — especially after getting the ABS Module Configuration Mismatch recall (Campaign 75B / NHTSA 24V-653) done.

Vehicle Info:

  • Model: 2022 Ram 1500 Rebel
  • Engine: 5.7L V8 HEMI MDS VVT (EZH)
  • Purchased: May 2023
  • Mileage: 11,698 KM

  • What Happened:

    May 15, 2025
Had the ABS module recall (75B) performed at the dealer. Software updated as instructed.

    May 17, 2025
Roughly 100 km after the recall:

    • While turning at about 50 km/h, the steering wheel suddenly jerked violently left and right, nearly causing an accident.
    • My two minor cousins in the back seat hit their heads together and on the window due to the force.
    • Tried to shift into Park, but the gear knob spun freely — it wouldn’t engage.
    • When I shut the engine off, the entire truck blacked out — no power, lights, or signs of life.
    • Truck only restarted after I disconnected the negative terminal for 10 minutes.

  • No check engine lights or fault codes appeared before or after.

    May 19–21, 2025
Brought the truck back to the dealer:

    • No codes showed on scan.
    • Dealer found steering angle sensor was off by 7°.
    • EPS module load/temp was at 50%.
    • After cleaning ABS connectors and rotating the wheel a few times, a new DTC appeared:
      C2210-00 – ECU Overtemperature (EPS)

Has anyone else had this happen?

  • Sudden steering kick or jerk after the ABS update?
  • Park not engaging?
  • Total vehicle blackout and EPS overheating?

It’s very concerning that this happened after a safety recall. I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone else who experienced this — or who has insight into the relationship between the ABS and EPS modules.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

Have not gone in for it yet, have this and one other thing to go to the dealer for.

Will follow along and take my time before going in to see if other's develop your problem or if you have some coincidental failure. Even if coincidental, sounds like a serious matter to be aware of.

I have that recall notice sitting on the counter. No desire to have it taken care of since my truck seems to be fine. If ESC is truly disabled prior to having the software updated, I will let it be the next owner's choice if they want to have it done.
