Is it time for a 5thGenRams long term/project truck? POLL:

This is something I've been going back and forth in my head with for awhile now. Originally I was going to buy a TRX when they became available but with living in one of the most expensive places in the world I'm not too sure thats the smartest idea. While pricing hasn't been announced yet I can make a pretty educated guess in saying they will most likely be around ~120k Canadian + or - a bit. While I could afford it it would hinder other things that I want to do and it would obviously still be awhile before I would even be able to order one.

I'm thinking of picking up a 2019 to use as a long term test truck for the site as well as using it as a project truck modifying it as we go and documenting everything in the process. I have 3 trim levels that I am currently trying to decide between and want your guys input:

1) Canadian Sport - My favorite of the bunch looks wise, can still be optioned with everything I want except for the 12 inch screen, I would probably save between 10-12k by going with the Sport.

2) Laramie Sport - Close second looks wise, available with all the features I want priced within 1.5k of a Limited optioned the way I would get both trucks and the interior isn't as nice as the Limited.

3) Limited - Best interior, exterior I prefer less than the other 2 but is still nice, I could probably fix that with color matching some pieces, not available with the Sport hood and not available in the color I want.

I won't be ordering for probably another 3 months or so as there's a few things I want to get taken care of first and I want to drive an eTorque before ordering. I may or may not go with the winning truck based on the poll but those are the 3 I am considering the strongest.

I love the 12 inch screen and it’s super responsive. Everyone that has been in my truck has been blown away by it. This is merely my opinion but that screen is one of the biggest statement items for these 5th Gen trucks. My choice would hands down be a truck you could get with the screen. Biased but I voted Limited hah.

I can't decide either and thats the problem lol. I will say that everyone that saw the Limited I had for the night was completely blown away by it. My problem is I'm more of a monochromatic look type of person, although I could do that to the Limited and I'd just have to buy the Sport hood whenever it became available.

I would say the Laramie Sport based on what you like. I agree with ryelinek, should choose one that you can get the 12” screen since that is a BIG selling/advertising point for these trucks but if your not feeling the Limited then IMO this is your best choice. Also the Laramie Sport may be a happy medium for what everyone else likes or wants. That’s just my two cents!

My truck made the cut! Derby decal and all! lol well...short lived derby decal. I know I could find this with enough research but, what is the difference between Canadian sport and Laramie? Is the Canadian a bighorn or something? That's a pretty legit savings, but as absolutely biased as can be.....the Limited is a show stopper....interior wise only lol. 3 weeks owning the truck and I honestly cannot get a ram owner to second look this truck. Like many have said, cant go wrong!

in my opinion- the first after market company that comes up with a black or colour matching grill for the limited will WIN big. (Maybe a cross hair too? for me it doesn't matter. but will calm down the traditionalists )

The Canadian Sport is available with all Laramie options I believe (would have to double check) and has the Laramie leather wrapped dash bit has what I believe are the big horn door panels and no available 12 inch. It does have the blacked out accents like the Laramie black as opposed to the chrome accents like the Laramie Sport.

I like the limited. I haven’t ordered one either yet, but I definitely want the air suspension and 12in display. I also like the idea of the navy/white interior with the navy exterior. I like continuity.

If the Longhorn didn't have the gorgeous new saddle/black interior option, I'd just get the Limited. I really like this interior color scheme, but I think that Longhorn one is just gorgeous.

Poll is closed but I would vote Sport based on your color/hood preference, and your ability to use the savings for add on parts or custom color premium leather seating. Maybe installing the 12” screen can be a mod.

Yeah, I didn't realize the poll was already closed when I posted it lol. I really like the Longhorn black new saddle interior as well.

The truck would not only be used as my personal truck but a promotional vehicle for the site. I had the exact same thought of going with the sport and then trying to team up with infotainment.com to swap a 12 inch display in. Chances are the truck would also get heavily modified, I was going to get the Whipple supercharger kit for my 2016 but since I'm going to be trading it in I decided to hold off. That might give you guys an idea of where I'm going with it lol.
