Intermittent roar

I’ve seen several discussions on the intermittent roar or hum some owners are experiencing with their new Rams. I have a 2019 1500 Bighorn purchased in July 2018. My truck on several occasions has began this roaring sound at low speed. Almost sounds as if truck not shifting thru gears and very very noticeable when it happens. On each occasion I have pulled over shut the truck off and on, and it stops. Almost as if whatever is causing this resets. Has there been any identified cause for this? Dealer says they have never heard of this but according to these forums it is quite an issue....it’s at the dealer now to fix the leaking rear window they can’t seem to fix either as this is second attempt. Asked service tech about roaring noice and he said first he has heard of anything like this.

Does the roaring sound like it could be bass coming through the speakers/subwoofer? There was a software update for the Active Noise Cancellation module to address this. Would mostly happen at lower speeds or when MDS would activate

I don’t believe it’s through speakers. I’ve had all recalls on the vehicle done if that was part of software update. It sounds to me as if under hood through exhaust system.....last time it happened a very loud newer mustang went by me and I thought that’s what it was. Only going about 35 to 40mph at the time. But mustang went by and the roar inside my cab drowned out the mustang. He probably wondered what the heck I had under my hood that sounded like a nascar engine....

My hearing is also damaged so if loud to me I can only imagine what others think. It is very startling while driving when it happens.

On occasion I have heard the cooling fan behind the radiator get pretty loud, but I don't recall hearing it inside while driving.

Could it be the engine coming out of eco mode? I hear a sight growl when lightly accelerating out of eco mode
I’ve wondered if that has something to do with that issue. It’s definitely something with the engine and likely roars through exhaust system. With mine I have to pull over and park and shut engine off. The noise rumble continues even while in park. When I shut off engine and restart its gone.

Does it happen with windows up or down? If you open a window the ANC is disabled and would help rule that out.

How does one PM on this website? My case manager also said he was not aware of the noise/vibration issue with the new generation RAMs and that FCA does not follow 3rd party forums. I informed him the forums I was referring to were on FCAs own website. Just look up roar, hum, vibration etc. there is a lot of negative but informative feedback on the matter on your own forums. This appears to be a big problem with these trucks. I hope FCA is truely trying to find a solution to this. I have a 2014 RAM also with hemi. Never had a problem with it like this.

I thought I was going crazy and never searched the forum for this issue. I was on here researching exhaust options and came across this thread. I have heard this roar also and thought it was the transmission. Then one day I heard it just after starting my vehicle. My co-worker looked at me like I was revving my engine and inviting them to a race. Please let us know what you find out.

If I find out anything I will post. Think I’m probably not but one can only hope. If I were in a location I had more confidence in my service dealer I might think this could be resolved. But don’t have the confidence in them to suggest that.
