Hello everyone! I’m new to the Ram family and recently picked up a 1500 with the SST engine — absolutely loving it so far! I know this has probably been asked before, but does anyone have a recommendation for an intake that gives a bit more sound? I’ve looked into the K&N, but it seems like the semi-open design might pull in hot air. Any suggestions or setups you’d recommend?

Welcome! K&N is known for their "high flow" which also means more dirt flow into the engine. I don't recommend them.

K&N filters absolutely let dirt into the engine. I used to work on dodge trucks with the cummins diesel, and I noticed that every one that had a k&n filter also had a detectable layer of fine silt or dust in the intake tract. You could wipe it off with your finger. Trucks with paper filters did not. That may not matter on an engine you've modified to the point that you're not expecting to get 100,000 miles out of it between rebuilds, but for something that you want to last, I would avoid it.

Whatever you decide, use DRY filter ONLY. Less chance for dirt, compared to oil and not worth the hassle either.

Don't worry about hot air with a turbo, it all goes through the intercooler.
